I know I may be 8 days behind, but it's never too late. I chose this picture as the face of this blog post for a reason. These two words run across the path of the other. I think it's significant because of what they say. If you plan to have a future, you better have a vision. And if you don't have a vision, you will not have a future. This is just as simple as it gets. God shares with us these two specific words in scripture.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, "God plan is to give us a future and a hope". Proverbs 29:18 says, "With no vision the people perish". Here is what I find interesting, God has a plan, yet we must have the vision. Let that sink in for a moment and read it again if necessary. I believe when the vision doesn't align with God's plan, He will allow it to not work. Or may even allow you to figure it out so you can learn many lessons.

As we all journey on this 2023 Highway of Life, remember to pay attention to the detours, proceed with caution, speed bumps, yield and stop signs. Don't forget the signs are there for a reason, just like the Holy Spirit. Don't ignore, allow the Holy Spirit to be your GPS, to lead and guide you throughout 2023.
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/71294452022-12-28T15:03:10-05:002022-12-28T15:03:10-05:00Merry Christmas Racine Correctional

It would be our first time working with the new Field Director for Illinois & Wisconsin. We spent 12 years going to Illinois every February with Mary Johnson, who retired this past summer. We talked back and forth via email to set up this first Hope event in Wisconsin, with Leah. We left the day before the event and flew into Chicago as we normally done. And our partner friend always looks out for us at the hotel for these prison events.

We met Leah who was a beautiful youthful in spirit woman with an accent reminding me of my southern family. She was no stranger; it was like we've known each other for a while. We checked into our rooms and went to dinner. We got to know one another a little more at dinner and had a few laughs and memories of Mary J.

We were too excited to learn our lobby call was at 11am. We were so used to 6am and 7am lobby calls over the years. We got a chance to enjoy the hotel a little bit. We had two events at Racine Correctional Facility with the men. The men were so excited to have us return. Our first event 43 men received salvation. I had two of the men join me in singing Joy to the World. It was so much fun, because the other men point out the singers when I ask. They enjoyed the testimony and message; our first event is always a testing of the waters.

After the first event, we left for lunch with the team. We had some great discussion and was able to encourage one of the brothers in the Lord. It was great fellowship and one of the volunteers reminded me of something. She said, I was with you all last year, you didn't have the men dance. I said, you know I planned on it, but it didn't fit for this event. So, I thanked her for reminding me and made sure to add it for the next event. We arrived back to the facility with ease, because we didn't have to set up.

The men had rearranged the stage area as we needed. And we prayed together before the event and the brothers started rushing in. It appears the nighttime events are more hype than the afternoon ones. I guess it's like coming to a "real concert" for these men. And our goal as always is to make them feel like they're not in prison for 2 hrs.

Leah shared her powerful testimony that had the men chuckling a little. I did my set and when it came to the dancing. It was the joy of the evening for me, 3 black guys and white guy hit the gym floor. I call for the steppers/ball roomers and man do they get excited pointing out who can dance. They love to geek each other up and push them to the front. I have them dance off one of my remake songs of the Isley Brothers. It was young and old on the floor, and the love in the room was electric.

I introduced E.D of The Gideon Crew, he did his thing and brought the message. The Holy Spirit moved during his entire set and the altar call was powerful. There were at least 150 plus men who stood up for salvation and rededication. Men were crying and worshipping God and you could feel the Spirit moving. We closed out with time for one-on-one prayer. There were lines with the volunteers, me, Leah, and E.D. I ended up not doing the one-on-one prayer line after my first encounter.

The young brother comes to me and says, "Can you pray for me?" I said, "Of course, what should I pray for?". He says, "First, I need a hug, can you give me hug?" (and he said it like he was sexy). I said, "Dude you know we can't give out no hugs". He says, "but I really need a hug, though". I said, "Boy let me pray for you, I'm old enough to be yo momma". We prayed and I went to sit down and let the rest of the team pray. I get this sometimes in the prison, and it be funny to me.

After I prayed, I looked around and E.D. had the men in a brotherhood circle of prayer. Many of them wanted him to pray for them, so he did it all at once. It was

The Chaplain was very pleased with the event and was very grateful we were able to come. We left around 9:30pm to head back to Chicago. We stopped and got dinner at Applebees, only thing open. Our flight was leaving at 8:30am, so it was an early morning shuttle to the airport. God blessed and from the feedback forms the men were touched. I'll share some of those soon.

Thanks Racine, see you soon!

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/71241892022-12-16T17:31:28-05:002022-12-16T17:31:28-05:00It's Christmas at Huron Valley
It had been since 2019 since the Annual Christmas concert at Huron Valley Women's Prison in Michigan. It is the only women's prison in the State of Michigan. It was the team returning together after 3 years. Rufus Harris, Anointed in Christ Mime Ministry, and Sonnie Day. We were all excited to get together for an amazing time. What was different this time is Denise who was the Field Director is now Regional Director. So, this event was the new field Director, Jerry Dash first Hope event.

I didn't learn until 2 days before that I was going to be the Speaker & MC of the event as well. It would be my first time as the "SPEAKER" at Huron Valley. I was a little nervous, but I trusted the Holy Spirit. It is nothing that I haven't done before, TALKING. So, it was all good, and the Lord used me mightily.

The ladies were in such anticipation they ran inside the auditorium like a Black Friday sale. It was crazy, they were running to get front row seats. We all were in utter amazement. And when we started these women were ready to praise God.

The team for these events was perfect Rufus on guitar with melodic smooth sound. The mime team sharing Jesus through expression shook the room. And God allowed me to bring Christmas joy, fun and encouragement.

left to right (me, Christian, Jerry, Myra, Denise, Rufus)

We had two events, the first one started at 12pm. Following the event we talked, prayed and encouraged the ladies one on one. I was heartbroken to have one of the ladies slide me a note. She asked if we could pray for "Celeste" an inmate who just learned her 20-year-old daughter was murdered in Flint. We prayed for her and it definitely touched me.

Our first event was amazing, and we met the new Chaplain. He is young, cool and down to earth, we hope we work together more. We did our video and pic after the first event before it got dark. And then we went to Harvest Moon cafe the closest spot to the prison. We had great fellowship and laughs.

The last event was FIRE, God turned it up a notch and the women were too hype. We had a great time and really made the women feel like they were not in prison.

I had so many women tell me they were getting ready to released. And one Sista prophesied to me, and I know she is accurate.

We left there about 9:30pm and I hit the Walmart up there for some items before driving home.
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/70780322022-10-09T19:48:05-04:002022-10-09T19:48:05-04:00GODLY MOMS DAY TWO
Again, the lobby call was 6:45am, it's a good thing we are less than 10 minutes from the prison. I was sleeping good in the hotel room, with the heat at the right temperature. We arrived at the prison at 7am for Session 2 of the Godly Moms Program. We met 50 new mothers, who said they heard all about it from yesterday. The gym was still set up from before, so little preparation was needed. I helped with some technical things to make the day run smoother. I guess my love for technology can glorify God as well.

The women came in with smiles and excited for the program. It wasn't 30 minutes into the program that I saw tissues being used. The Holy Spirit was already moving through Mrs. Scottie. And the women came with expectancy and engaged in the message. After Ken announced about the prayer cards, the women started flooding submitting them to Don. There were over 100 prayer requests filled out just from this group.

The prayer cards are distributed to several churches throughout the state. They are prayed for by prayer teams believing God on behalf of the inmates. The women's expression when Scottie shared how the One Day with God Camp was started, was amazing. I love hearing the story, because it is divinely orchestrated, and you can't make it up.

The ladies learned about strength, grace and love, and the things they shared throughout the program was interesting. I recall one older woman saying, that her 2nd husband told her she believed in God that was enough. He said, you don't need to go to church or read your bible, or anything else. She was not allowed to do so, and she obeyed everything he said. I heard some things that broke my heart for these women.

Scottie followed the Holy Spirit with the flow of the program. Because we didn't do things like we did the day before. And it just flowed perfectly. She incorporated some role playing with the women, and I played the child. It was full of fun and laughter, and the ladies really enjoyed it. Scottie called me out of the prayer room where I was filling in for Ruth for a moment. I walked out and saw 27 women standing up front. I was overjoyed because I knew it was the end of the program. And the invitation had been extended. She wanted me to pray over these ladies. I always surrender myself as a vessel when I go inside. Although I may go in to do the music, God always uses me in other ways. I am grateful to be a servant of His!

The Deputy Warden, Programs Team, Officers, and Inmate volunteers all were nice and made it run smoothly. They had lunch for us which was delicious as well (Michigan Salad, Croissant Sandwiches, Fruit, and Pop). This Forgiven Ministry team operated in excellence and unity as we spread the love of Jesus Christ to the Women of Huron Valley Correctional. #MissionMalachi46

It's been 3 years since Forgiven Ministry has been inside Michigan prisons. Since 2010, Forgiven Ministry has held their "One Day with God Camp" inside at least 8-10 prisons in the state. The program allows inmates to spend the day with their children.

Today we arrived at the prison at 7am to go through the security process. It was smooth sailing, and we didn't take our socks off this time. The cold to me morning took us for a brisk walk across the yard. The programs building is where the gym is, and everything was set up beautifully. The various color table clothes with flower centerpieces were special. It was our first time presenting the "GODLY MOMS" program written by Donna (a former inmate and friend of Scottie) and Mrs. Scottie (Founder of Forgiven Ministry). The 50 ladies arrived EXCITED and seeing all the things they got; they were full of joy. A big bottle of lotion, Irish spring soap, books, bibles, snacks, and much more, it felt like Christmas.

The lady's engagement during the program was great and helped us to learn a lot more about them. Dawn & Mrs. Scottie taught the program and had the women digging deep on grace, love, and strength. The women shared some personal stories and tissue boxes were just about empty. The program runs from 8am-3:30pm with some breaks, lunch, and don't forget count time.

While the ladies went to lunch so did we, our lunch was provided by the Culinary School inside the prison. Our lunch was delicious, it was homemade potato chips with some special seasoning, chicken ceasar wrap, lemon parfait, and fruit punch.

The inmates who prepared the meal under the direction of the Chef, gave excellent customer service. Also, shared how they attended the ODWG camps in the past and the blessing it was. After lunch I did music to shake that sleepy off after you eat. And my song "You" was a tearjerker, I didn't expect majority of the women to be in tears. But the Holy Spirit moved, and it ministered to them heavily.

Mrs. Scottie finished up the last session with a forgiveness bucket, mother'sblessing, the gospel message of salvation and all were powerful. There was 3 women who received salvation and 8 rededicating their lives to Christ. Many were already believers of Jesus.

I did the closing song. "I Won't Go Back" by William McDowell it's the song Mrs. Scottie requested, and it seals the entire message of the program. And it makes a declaration for the moms to themselves and their children. Our prayer room throughout the day was constantly revolving with one-on-one prayers.

I've been inside Huron Valley Women's Prison many times over the years. I have heard many stories, prayer request, etc. However, today's prayer request as shared by Ken our State Coordinator was deep to us. It was simple yet caused me to do a lot of reflection. She wrote on her prayer request sheet for herself, one other thing, but most interesting some ENVELOPES. Yes, envelopes, because she wanted to be able to write a letter to her kids.

I'm just going to sit that right there for you PRAYER WARRIORS! I began to say really God, I'm so sorry! While I'm petitioning you for stuff and sometimes not that serious. This woman is asking you for some ENVELOPES!! WOW

Our evening ended with dinner two days in a row at JRS Grill & Pub. And yes, the food was good both days. Keep us in prayer for DAY 2 tomorrow.

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/70733612022-10-03T10:27:49-04:002022-10-03T10:27:49-04:00You Gotta Say Something!
Do we really know how powerful God's Word is and how what we say has power? Well, I'm putting into practice what God has said for us to do using our mouth. I'm discovering daily interesting things and taking His words literally. For example, in Job 22:28 it says, “You shall decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and light shall shine upon your ways.” Bishop Ronald Powell put it this way, "By use of the word “shall,” this verse is actually commanding us to decree. It also comes with a promise that when we do, those things “shall” be established for us".

So, let me put this in my words, "God commands us to do something, we do it, then it will be set up, initiated, brought about, or shown true". Well, this is a NO BRAINER, now we just have to DECREE (Order) a thing. So, if this is something new for you, start decreeing things as the scripture has instructed us. And see what happens, I'm 100% certain God will prove himself to be true in your life. I've put a decree together that I speak over your life. Feel free to use this for yourself, your children, and others.

I think it is critical that we began to take God's Word and apply it to our lives. The bible is not just a book, it is a living instrument. If we pick it up, learn it, play it, we will experience a great sound. You see how I had to tie this in with music.
It was my first time going inside Michigan's Women's prison since Covid. I knew there were some changes, I just didn't know what they were. I went inside with Prison Fellowship for "Angel Tree Parent Day". It's a new format for sign-ups for Christmas. I served as the Speaker & Artist for the 2 Day Event. When we arrived, we had to do an on-site Covid Test. It's the swab kit and wait for the results. We all tested negative for Covid and were allowed to go inside. We had a morning and afternoon program for both days. But we didn't know how things would flow on Day 1. The security procedures were the same as before, but the number of volunteers allowed for an event is limited. What I learned from one of the women is we're the first program event outside of core programs allowed to come inside.

The first event was a trial run of how the rest of the events would go. Because of Covid protocols they released the women by units. This meant that how our normal events went, would change. Normally, everyone is in the gym all at one time. So, after about 2 units in the gym, we started the program. I shared music and some tips on how to stay connected to your children from inside.

After I shared, Ms. Katrina in the middle below gave some tips on filling out the Angel Tree applications. She is the coordinator for her church in Detroit, where they service 200 plus children. And Sarah and Dale helped with vetting the applications, along with Denise and I. After the first event we knew how the rest would go. Because it is a revolving style event, we had to determine what I would do. Although I didn't repeatedly share my music, I did reiterate the tips as women were in and out.

One lady told me I had her crying on my song "YOU". And she didn't not want to cry but she couldn't help it. This made me smile, because I use the song as a dedication from the kids to their parent. I've even seen men crying when I sing this song. You can download it anywhere you listen to music.

We enjoyed lunch each day at Harvest Moon Cafe near the prison. This tends to be our spot each time, only dine in restaurant nearby. I got a chance chit chat with my cousin that works at the Prison. We didn't get a chance to cut up as we normally do when we get together.

For our 2-day events we had approximately 500 plus kids signed up for Angel Tree for Christmas.

I never knew God would use my experience of being an Angel Tree Parent years ago to bless others. When God says in Romans 8:28, that He would "cause things to work together" for our good. I am a living witness of how God caused someone else going to prison to work for MY GOOD!#prisonministry #music #womenprison #speaker #artist #singsongwriter

Today was the day we go back inside the prisons for the first time in Illinois. The guidelines had changed a lot than before. They were only going to allow a certain number of ladies to attend. We were going to Decatur and Logan the only 2 women prison facilities in Illinois. We had our sound system ready to go, but once we arrived at Logan it was already set up. So, we didn't have to pull out everything.

One of the staff members met us in the parking lot with a cart ready to load the material. It was definitely something we'd never experienced before. He led us to check-in and then to the room for the event. It was the Chapel I think, but it was set up with like cafeteria type tables. They only allowed 2 units to attend because of a Covid breakout that happened. So, it was 30 ladies participating. The ladies had a great time and the activity we done they enjoyed. Approximately 17 ladies received salvation and rededicated their lives to Christ.

They enjoyed the music and the message, but the staff guy was too military like. He didn't want us to pass the material out. It was kind of weird, he wanted to do everything with the chapel helper. His presence made the ladies feel like they couldn't be free. He did compliment me at the end about my voice. By specifically letting me know, he's not into religion or my type of music. But I enjoyed you and your voice is amazing. I thanked him, and prayed the lyrics stick in his mind forever.

We grabbed some lunch and moved on to our next prison which was Logan. I just may have it backwards to which came first. But the goal is to share the blog, right? Right! So, we had about a 2 hour ride to the prison. The place brought back memories from the last time we were there. We were in the gym as before, but this time only 50 were allowed to attend. Last, it was filled to capacity with 300 ladies and some standing around the walls.

Again, we didn't need our sound system because they had it set up already. Well, it took Mary and I a minute to figure out how to work it. I can tell you the heat was on FIRE and my hair became swollen. You can see a little in the picture below, with one of the volunteers. She hung with us for all the facilities and did one of the presentations.

The presentations were awesome from the music, message and the activity. It wasn't until it was time to collect the markers from the activity. We had 2 markers come up missing (black and red). The ladies were not happy and began calling each other out about stealing. And saying it was embarrassing to have guest and this happens. We spent at least 30-40 more minutes after the event. Each of the ladies had to be shook down by the officer and then the Major was called down. Although it never came up, I just wonder what happened after we left. There was 32 ladies received salvation and rededication. We ended the night with dinner at Cracker Barrel and had about an 1hr ride to the hotel.

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/69678072022-05-10T12:05:13-04:002022-05-11T17:58:37-04:00Mother's Day Inside-The Arrival
Mother's Day in Illinois Department of Corrections

I hadn't been inside of an Illinois prison since the February 2020. It was a month before the pandemic hit and the world started shutting down. We had just done our annual black history prison tour. And the following month, no more prison ministry.

This changed last weekend, because I got to do a Pre-Mother's Day Hope Event at 3 women's facilities. I traveled by myself this time to Chicago and seeing the new guidelines of not having to wear a mask was crazy to me. But, I definitely kept my mask on the entire flight.

Mary picked me up and we had about a 3 hour drive to the hotel. Of course, she had snacks and something drink as usual. We had a great ride and maybe ran into a little rain and minor construction. We grabbed dinner at the only place that wasn't fast food as we got closer to the hotel. Can you guess where? Well, it was Cracker Barrel, and I had the Catfish dinner.

We made it to the hotel and was ready for our sound equipment training with E.D. of The Gideon Crew. Usually, he is the one that sets up the sound during our prison events. But, this time it was all on Mary and I. Well, we got things connected to learn the DVD player Mary brought didn't play the CD-Rs with my music on them. So, you might say why are we still using CDs? Many facility do not allow electronic devices inside. After spending about 20 minutes trying to figure things out, E.D. says you all are gonna have to go to Walmart.

As we look at the clock, it's 10:30pm and we search via Siri for a Walmart near me. And the Walmart is less than 6 minutes away, and they closed at 11pm. So, Mary and I rush to the car hoping they have a portable DVD player. And thanks be to God, the last one they had was on the shelf for $200. God was definitely all involved with how this played out.

The song was sharing how the words of "I Love You" are pure and simple. Society has taken those words and distorted what it means. Love defined by God is nowhere near what many experience. I can speak from experience of being mistreated, emotionally abused by those who said those words. Once you learn what love truly is, you'll never allow yourself to experience anything less.

God gives us a clear definition of what is LOVE is. In 1 Corinthians 13, it says Love is patient, kind, love is not rude, does not hurt, keeps no record of wrong, etc. What is hard to accept is anything opposite is not love. I wrote a part of my last record about LOVE. I needed to write music about love like I heard growing up. The music was written from the heart of love not sexually driven. The songwriters expressed their feelings differently than what is heard now.

Ask yourself what does love means to you and how do you express it. Because some people take love for granted not understanding it's true sacrifice. The ultimate demonstration of love was Jesus on a Christ willingly. So, as you partake or not in Valentine's Day festivities, demonstrate how God defines love in His word.

It had been 2 years since I had been inside a prison, and that's unusual. For the last 12 years, I have been inside a prison at least once a month. I never imagined a worldwide virus would be the reason for the halt. So, when we got the call from our ministry partners to return to Wisconsin, we were excited. We had just added Wisconsin to the roster in December of 2019. It was our first event inside Racine Youthful Offenders Prison and Wisconsin Department of Corrections. The inmates were excited about our event, and we were planning to return. Unfortunately, Covid-19 hit the world and ceased everything.

Fast forward, we were able to return for a Christmas concert in December 2021. The culture inside the facilities were so different. Even though staff, officers, and the inmates were grateful we came, it was heavy. You could feel the spirit of heaviness and discouragement. But, we came to do what God called us to do, and that was "SET THE CAPTIVES FREE". The youthful offender's facility allowed for 100 young men to attend. And the flow of the event was cool, we left them with some powerful life nuggets. Their attentiveness to the Word was like no other. There was approximately 40 youth to accept Jesus Christ. And when we read the report sent to us in January, it was very encouraging. We learned many were hopeless and wanting to give up, and the program saved their lives.

As always when we went to the adult men's facility, things were different. We had 2 events at Racine Correctional. The first event we had 250 men attend, some were respectful, and others weren't. There was group of young adult men, you could tell were a gang inside. And you also knew who the leader was, based on their behavior. However, the Lord still moved despite of, and 60 men accepted Christ.

Our second event was the best, I invited one of the guys up to sing with me. I know social distance protocol, know this brother enjoyed himself. I had him sing my song Joy to the World with me. The other brothers cheered him on, and we had a good time. The Lord moved through the Word of God and the performance from The Gideon Crew. Listennnn, we had "church" with no drums and no musician. These brothers raised the roof in praise to God, you felt the chains being broken! There were 300 men at this event and over 1/2 of them accepted Christ. According to the feedback forms, these men were in desperate need of this moment.

We look forward to going back inside on a regular basis. In the meantime, do as the scripture says in Hebrews 13:3. "Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering".

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/67669652021-10-06T08:00:00-04:002021-10-06T08:00:04-04:00Pieces to the Puzzle

Life is a series of puzzle pieces that lead you to the full picture. As you look at this picture here, you can imagine it being broken down into several different pieces. What you would not know is the beauty it can have once it comes together. God tells us in Romans 8:28, "That all things are working together for the good". I like to look at "all things" as puzzle pieces. Each piece serves its purpose, be it good or bad. In the end, what you'll see is BEAUTIFUL.

You are a Masterpiece to God, what he created you to be, the pieces are helping you to BECOME. So, let your light shine just like in this picture. Because, someone is using your light to see pass the darkness in their life. Never stop shining, because you never know how God is using you to draw people to Him. I love to learn the biblical meanings of numbers. When I learned this about 8, I began to let it reset my mindset. And I'm writing this blog to share with you how I used this number to help me.

New beginnings allow you to reset and restart whatever you want. And if you're like me, you have restarted things over and over. From dieting, exercises, reading a book, and goals. I've started over several times, but I have released myself from feeling guilty about it. The key to anything is starting. I've realized if I pick up where I left off, and it's starting again, eventually I'll get something done. So, start over today, whatever it is, and don't beat yourself up! Take a leap into the new beginning.

I just want to decree something in the atmosphere for your life. "I decree God download new ideas, new products, new services, new designs, and new strategies for your business, ministry, brand, and any endeavor you have." I speak this over your life. According to your faith, be it unto you. New creations is upon you NOW!!

New Order! This is the tuff one for me here. Listen, this new order is what I have to take into the rest of this year. Are there things you need to get in order? Maybe your closet, your cabinets, business, financial papers, family business, etc. Have you ever wondered how things get out of order? I have, life moves swiftly and you just let things pile up. Shout out to the professional organizers and those gifted naturally in this area.
Were you like majority of people throughout the world, ready for 2020 to be over with? With the excitement of a new year, anticipating a reset. In our traditions many made New Year’s resolutions, set goals, and energized with a renewed spirit. For some, a new President and the first black woman to be Vice President in the history of this country was refreshing. These are profound unprecedented times we are living in with a pandemic throughout the world that appears to not have any control. I ponder on what’s next; after six days into the New Year a riot happens at the United States Capitol building. And then five days after that, my 5 year old grandson who’s fighting leukemia is admitted into the hospital. On the same day two years ago, he was being discharged from a 10 day stay learning of his diagnosis. And on top of that, we learn the actions of the person who murdered his father through surveillance video. As my mind analyze and digest all of what has occurred within the last 11 days of 2021, I wonder what’s next.

Although I wonder, I have learned to not concern myself too much with the matters of life. Why? Because I understand that life is a series of lessons that teaches me how to live it better. I could easily consume myself with the pressures and the situations that life offers me. Or I can navigate through it with trusting in God. I choose to trust in the one that knows all and sees all. In this time of uncertainty, from a virus to the economy, there is an urgency for us to know who provides. As well as, how to cast our cares on Christ.

Here’s what I do know about 2021:

-Navigating through 2021 will require you to have a ridiculous amount of faith. It will be this type of faith that will help you remain sane and endure to the end. I encourage you to tap into Jesus, build your relationship with Him, God sustains!

-It will require you to have multiple streams of income. Whatever you know how to do, do it, even if it’s more than one thing. There are people waiting to buy from you. A woman in Canada made $30,000 from her Couponing stash of items at the beginning of the pandemic. I say figure it out and remember NOW! Keep reading you’ll see what that means.

As a small business owner, I’ve discovered pivoting with creativity is necessary in order to survive. You will need to look at your business model and see what works and what doesn’t. For example, this is Vision Board season, as a party host for vision boards, I had to change. I can no longer do face to face parties, thus creating a virtual platform for the parties. As a recording artist, concerts are no longer, but virtual ones are popping. History has taught us during a crisis births creativity. There has been so many businesses born during this time. Well, I never thought I would experience a plague or famine in the land. I had someone say to me on Facebook that we don't have a famine. A famine is simply a "shortage", and there is a shortage of supplies, masks, ventilators, hand sanitizer, etc. For this reason, many people lives will end because of it. I wanted to write this blog post to share my thoughts concerning this. I don't proclaim to be one that is spiritually deep. However, I can share what I feel in my spirit and heart.

I still believe this is an Economic shift in the Earth. Since January of 2020, I've been hearing "Wealth Transfer", and God was preparing a transaction in the Spirit. This transaction we will experience in the Earth. As the scriptures has already been written, it is now for those scripts to be acted out. Unfortunately, many will die because of this virus, and that is not God's heart that we perish.

But, I have learned we are in a critical hour to hold on to our confession of faith. You can not speak anything other than what the Word of God has spoken. The enemy is awaiting us to speak death, so he can manifest that in our life. I urge you to be careful to what you listen to, read, and even release from your tongue.

NOW IS THE TIME! is a message my husband preached back in January of this year. It is the time for you to work on whatever you've been putting to the side. The doors of opportunity are going to be by invitation only for those that are READY and PREPARED! Don't neglect this time of quarantine it's BIGGER than social distancing.

Here's a thought that maybe you haven't considered:

1. Your job is closed, but you can still work a second job.

2. Have you searched who's hiring for a work from home position?

3. Have you submitted your resume to Linked In, Indeed, etc.

4. Could it be you're shifting into your Purpose and not your Job?

Just something to consider and ponder while you're sitting still.

Lastly, get rid of all toxic thinking, attitudes, and behaviors. Your faith has to be so strong and solid that even this virus doesn't shake you. Realign your relationship with Jesus and understand His power and stay connected. We are ending in the first quarter of 2020, and what we will see in the remainder of this year will be AMAZING AND TRANSFORMATIVE! The Church is coming to the forefront! Sonnie Day is a singer, songwriter, and speaker.

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/62191082020-02-18T12:21:34-05:002023-12-10T12:41:00-05:00Write The Vision!
Write the Vision. You probably have heard this several times throughout your adult life. And you've mostly heard it quoted by a preacher, referring to Habakkuk 2:2. I can honestly say, I never heard that phrase as a kid "write the vision", nor much about Habakkuk 2:2. It wasn't until I became an adult in my late 20's this phrase became popular.

For many years, I've been obsessed with understanding 4 words, and Vision is one of them. I've come to learn many people don't have a vision and those that do, it's not written down. Therefore, if it is not written it's not real.

So, you may wonder what is VISION, I like to define it this way: It is what you imagine the portrait of your life to become.

You can take my definition and look at people like Dr. King, Kobe Bryant, Henry Ford, etc. and you will see the "portrait" of their life. And I'm sure you can identify what their overall purpose was while on this Earth. Their lives are no different than ours. God had you and I in mind when our parents got together.

So, I would ask you what does the portrait of your life look like? Do you have written down what you imagine your life to be? Vision is forecast, it is simply how you expect something to be in the future. Of course, you don't know what happens in the future only God knows that, however you have the power to create what you want to see. I tell people all the time a pen and paper are your best friends! I guess that is why I love journal books and good writing pens, and colorful pens. They all serve a purpose as well, that's another blog post!

I challenge you today to get rid of the blurry things in your view. Sometimes, it could be friends, places you go, people you're around, things that cause you to be off your radar. You can't see things when it's blurry! Go start writing down what you see, what your vision is for your life and watch what happens.

I have a song I wrote sitting in the office at church a few years back. It was God having a conversation with me, I couldn't believe how the lyrics were just flowing. I literally wrote that song in less than 30 minutes. Take a listen, I hope it inspires you and causes you to ACT. Write The Vision Song

So what are we doing?

1. Get a journal book and pen

2. Write the Vision you see for your Life

3. Listen to the Song

4. Share with somebody else that needs this

Lobby call again was at 7:15am, our first event was at 8:30am. We arrived at Lincoln and the Chaplain greeted us, she was a fired up black woman. The event was held in the chapel, which is above the gym. She opened up with dancing and telling the men "we gonna turn up in here". There were 75 men that came out and 23 of them accepted Jesus Christ.

One of the brothers that helped us set up wanted to show us his talent. He was an artist, dude artwork is dope. He said he's been able to buy him 2 flat screen tvs and a tablet from selling his artwork amongst the men in the prison. Listennnn, I was like what?. We get feedback forms after each event, so here is one from an inmate at Lincoln.

We loaded up and drove next door to Logan Correctional, which is the Women's prison. We already know what time it is when we go there. They were anticipating our arrival, had things set up and was ready to roll. I did "You Can't Stop Me" and they were turnt. But, when I did "For the Love" and talked about the men facilities not doing the Chicago Step. These ladies got up out there seat and started dancing. One older woman was in a wheel chair, and tears started coming down her eyes as she got up and started stepping. I could tell the joy she felt and maybe it reminded her of home or dancing like she use to. They started dancing together stepping and then the Chaplain had to make an announcement afterwards. He said, "You can dance by yourself, just not with each other".

Art stirred up the room with the message and 28 ladies accepted Christ, there were 150 that came out. The Gideon Crew set the room ablaze with the Holy Spirit. When I say these ladies shouted, cried, worshipped God the officers were nervous, and the Chaplain I think because he was new. They had us signing autographs at the end and were very grateful. One Hispanic lady told me she went from Deathrow, to natural life, to now waiting for the Governor phone call to free her. She's serve 28 years for a crime she didn't commit.

Our last prison for the night was at Danville. The event was held in the gym and we had to set up everything because there was no one in the gym. Our program started late, we ended up having an hour program, because a fight broke out. Chaplain told us there were 250 passes given to attend. There was 175 guys that came and 29 accepted Jesus Christ. So, I did 2 songs and when I said Detroit hold the title for stepping they was tripping. When I did my remake of the Isley Brothers "For the Love of You". One brother got up and stepped and HE KILLED IT!!! Listen, I have seen some since we've been doing this for 8 years. He the best one I've seen!

We ended the night going over the border to Indiana for dinner at the Beef House for dinner. This is a family own restaurant that has a dinner theater building attached to it. The food was excellent, I had king crab legs, shrimp, scallops, and cod with baked potato, broccoli cheese soup, and salad bar. All of this was included, and your drink. The food was amazing and the staff were great. The Chaplain from Danville recommended it and joined us for dinner too. We had a great time of fellowship and learned some stuff too.

It was time to turn in so we crossed back over to Illinois to check in at this nice Hampton Inn hotel. This was at the entrance so I had to take a picture. Excuse my face the photographer "Big Jake" did not know what he was doing. You know men don't know how to take a woman's picture on her phone. This here is a BIG DEAL! and it has to be right.

Well, Tour number 8 is in the books! The Lord has done what He promised and we are grateful and honored to have been chosen to serve!

Yall come hangout with me for Valentine's Day at the Gospel Music Cafe Friday night at 8pm. 19158 Livernois in Detroit, Michigan. Let's take a picture, dance and have some FUN!
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/62114892020-02-12T00:13:01-05:002022-03-07T20:23:50-05:002020 Vision Prison Tour Day 3
Our lobby call was at 7:30am, and we had 3 prisons to do. We began at Vandalia Correctional in Vandalia, Illinois. We had a smooth time getting through security. The Chaplain was a nice cool young lady, her brother lives in Detroit. We had something in common, anything with LOVE on it we like it. So, she loved my earrings and my Love & Gospel sweatshirt. There were 45 men that came out, we thought it was gonna be 175. I did my set, and the ballroom battle I do between Chicago and Detroit, gets them excited. So, this old man on a cane put his cane to the side and started stepping, he was jamming too. Everybody did there thing and there were 13 men that accepted Jesus Christ. We had time to spare a little so, the guys played Basketball with the Warden, and some of the officers.

We left there and traveled to Graham, we didn't really have time to eat. So, we ate what we had in the car. Graham is one of our favorite spots to stop, because the Chaplain is dope. He's made the chapel into a "real church". It's called "Hope Chapel" they got a big sign outside and on the building. Well, we got delayed by an 1hr. from coming inside. They randomly had a "staff wellness check" right during lunch time. They sent the 150 men waiting for us in the chapel back to their dorms. So, we finally got through & set up, only 51 men came back. Interesting enough those men were made to stop at the shed on the yard to be searched before coming to the Chapel. You talk about opposition! While Art and The Gideon Crew was up, the Assistant Warden came to the chapel and wanted to talk to the Chaplain. She talked with him during majority of the event. We thought interesting, but the 22 men accepting Christ was more exciting! A Caucasian older man prophesied to me before we left. And I'm looking for it to happen!

We ended the night at Taylorville Correctional. We were in the gym and it was cold in that gym. We rocked out with the men, about 80 of them came out. The Holy Spirit moved in that gym so powerful. Some of the men were stepping, it was great to see them smiling with joy. One of the officers told us at the end, "thank you for bringing God inside of here". What happened at the end our never forget. An old school brother yelled out as we were packing up. He said, "we can't send them off this way, we got to pray". He began to pray and what he said next made my spirit leap. He said, "May you live as long as you want, and may you want for nothing as long as you live".

We left that prison and was headed to Cracker Barrel before they close at 10pm. Unfortunately, we pulled up at 9pm and they were already closed. So, we ended up having to go to Pizza Hut. It was cool, because I haven't had it in a long while. And Auntie Ella brought this lemon pound cake inside and started slicing, and guess what we started eating.

Our night ended, and it took less than 5 minutes to get to the hotel. Of course, I was sleepy and went straight to sleep. Pictured below our team today and tomorrow: Mary, Lady Ella, and Sandy, everybody else you know.

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/62100322020-02-10T08:18:17-05:002020-02-10T08:18:17-05:002020 Vision Prison Tour: Day 2
We kicked off the day with lobby call at 7:30am. This means I got to get up at least by 6:15am. Because I have to do my blog, get dressed, make-up, breakfast and chill. Today we have 2 prisons to go to Dixon and Pontiac. Our first event was scheduled for 8:30a-10:30a. But, when we arrived to the prison the Chaplain told us there was a delay. Well, 6 days ago the D.O.C. change count time to 8am. This means they have to count every inmate in the facility, which takes about 20-30 minutes. Then, as we were arriving we saw an ambulance on site. We were then told there was NO MOVEMENT. This lets us know the equipment is not set up and we would start late. We finally got through, all we needed to bring in were microphones. We walked the long green mile, when the Lt. told us the Chaplain could have called for us a ride. WOW!

The program was held in the auditorium and there were 178 men that attended and 37 salvations. It was a Sunday morning, so this was many of the Christina men worship service. We had a good time and majority of the men had never seen our Hope event.

We left there had lunch with these awesome volunteers at a cute intimate restaurant called Flynnies. What we didn't know is that in an hour in 1/2 we would meet up with our other friends at a restaurant. So, we had a great lunch talked and learned how instrumental their work is to the inmates.

We made a stop on the way to the next Prison. We stopped at Dollar Tree, because I had to get some crazy glue. My nailed had popped off and I couldn't continue with it in my pocket.

SIDENOTE: What are you all doing on this Friday night? Well I will be performing at the Gospel Music Cafe at 19158 Livernois on the Avenue of Fashion at 8pm. Come hang out with me, I will be doing some music from my new album "Love & Gospel".

We met up with the Millers and members of their church Teresa and Terrance, who we met for the first time. We had dinner I guess, because we wouldn't stop again to eat afterwards. The restaurant was a place called "Baby Bull". I hate I didn't take a picture with Millers for my blog. We were able to catch up, it's been a year or so since they rolled with us. Big Jake and I shared some jumbo shrimp and fries, because we literally just ate.

So, we made it to Pontiac MSU and the event was in the gym, we had to bring in everything for this event. They told us the men might not come, because they had been to church all day today.

But, that wasn't true they started piling in while were praying in a circle. We quickly ended that prayer and started greeting them. It was 100 men attended and 23 salvations. I sang "Write The Vision" which sets up Art's presentation on African American Visionaries".

The power of God moved during The Gideon Crew set, after they performed "You Don't Know What I Been Through". Majority of the men are LIFERS, E.D. had no way of knowing this and God had him prophecy to them. One brother on the front row uncontrollably started crying, he had to put his face in his shirt. And then he started lifting his hands and jumping. You could tell he was one of the leaders in prison, and the men looked up to him. But, E.D. grabbed his hand and prophesied specifically to him, and he lost it. The Holy Spirit moved in the room, and it was like God stopped time. Because, I knew we only had like 5 minutes left. But, when they were done it was 7:30pm. The time we were to be finished.

We greeted the brothers afterwards. One hispanic guy came through the line, he told me that song "Write The Vision" touched me. Because when God took his eyesight years back, He told him, "You don't need vision to see". I didn't know he was blind, it was amazing. We left the prison for a 3 hour ride to the hotel getting in after 11pm, with a 7:30a lobby call. Pray for us!
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/62092722020-02-09T08:16:42-05:002020-02-09T08:16:42-05:00Vision Tour 2020 Day 1
It is the 8th Annual Black History Prison Tour in Illinois. I can't believe we've been doing these for this long. This years tour is the "2020 Vision Tour". We will hit 9 prisons in 4 days. We loaded the van at 9:30am leaving from the Marriot hotel, compliments of our homegirl. We left and went to Guitar Center to pick up equipment for the week. Then we headed to the airport to pick up Art. We had time to kill before getting to the prison. So, we did our usual stop at Walmart. Also, we got to go one of our shopping spots.

It was time for lunch/dinner and Mary picked Buca. This Italian restaurant gives a lot of food and we had no idea. Of course, we couldn't eat it all, so we gave it to one of the volunteers. We arrived at the prison about 3:45pm. Our lobby time was 4pm, so we prayed and chilled. After unloading all the equipment we went inside for the fast manifest check ever. This event was different because PF media team came to video record.

The inmates had the gym set up with sound and everything, but it was in the wrong gym. So, they moved everything to the smaller gym for better acoustics and filming. There were 150 men that came out and all signed the waiver to be filmed. We thought we would only get to film the back of them. During the invitation there were 60 men received salvation.

We ended the night stopping at Subway, of course I slept the entire ride. We got to the hotel about 10:45pm.
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/59262212019-10-14T15:22:00-04:002019-10-14T15:22:00-04:00Release Your Greatness
Did you know there is GREATNESS inside of you? You have more potential than you know, it just hasn't been awakened. When I think of GREAT people a list of names come to mind. Greatness can be carried in all types of capacities from all types of people. It bothers me when I see someone living below their potential. Society has blinded so many to believe the social media hype. And many desire to be people that they do not know, nor if they know what's posted is real. So, they define their greatness based upon other people.

Here is the truth, the greatness you have inside, has to first be believed. There are many folks suffering from low self-esteem, lack of identity, and knowing their self-worth. Once you recognize you're worth it, you're valuable, and it's an asset to have you on scene, things happen.what's inside awakens. So, own it and know that you are GREAT!

Another truth, we all have gifts and talents that God gave us. Each of these gifts and talents define our greatness. But, when you don't use them it's an insult to the one that gave it to you. So, identify what they are and use them to best of your ability. It makes God smile when He sees His creation operating in the purpose of His original intent.

Understand that gifts flow out of us like this stream of water you see in this picture. It comes easy, flows naturally, and others can enjoy, why becausethe stream doesn't stop. There are too many people watching the water flow out of others and haven't realize they have the same water from the same well.

So, if your gift writing, when that book, play, movie, poem, music, releases; God smiles.

Your gift drawing, when that painting, art class, mural, releases; God smiles.

I could go on and on, but Greatness has been personally designed by God and came with you when you were born. RELEASE YOUR GREATNESS!

The men had the equipment already set up on the basketball area of the yard and were just as excited as we were for the event. Prison Fellowship host "Hope Events" all over the country for inmates. They are evangelistic events with various forms of entertainment to bring the inmates out to hear the Gospel. This event included myself, Rufus Harris, The Gideon Crew, and The Conquerors strong man team. We are no strangers in working together, we've been doing these for years as a team. But, we knew God was going to do some amazing things at Thumb, because of how the enemy tried to block it. We had clearance issues for 2 of the team members all the way up until time to go in. Big Jake of The Gideon Crew was not approved to go in. Now mind you, we travel all over the country and have been in over 70 prisons in several states. For some reason, he was not approved. But let me share how God worked. The Gideon Crew decided to come anyway, knowing Big Jake wasn't approved. We were operating in total faith.

One of the members of the strong man team left their license at the hotel and we had to wait. So, we were delayed for about 30-35 minutes, we got their early enough though. But, him leaving his license allowed the Deputy Warden to run the clearance again. And by this time, as Yago (strong man) came back with his license the Warden had come in. He recognized Yago from the camps we do together with bringing in the kids. We were just their 2 months ago. So, he asked what was the problem, why were they all waiting out here and not going in. He explained the situation that Big Jake wasn't cleared. He simply told the officer let him, signed the pass and gave the OK to let Big Jake go through security.

Meanwhile, the ladies are through security and the Deputy Warden is back with us. She says, he is cleared to come through. We were overjoyed, because our first event for the morning was with the youth offenders. They needed to hear The Gideon Crew's music and their testimony. GOD DID THAT!! If you believe by Faith you have already received.

We had 2 programs and we ministered to over 250 men and 70 men asked Jesus into their heart. And half of that number were the youth offenders ages 15-19. We had a great lunch from the Food Tech program inside the prison. Yo, they made some homemade potato chips, MANNNN!! I'm telling you they should be on the market.

We left there and went to dinner at Lake Inn Food & Spirits in Lapeer. It was off the Lake and they were doing numbers, parking was 2 blocks down and it was packed. Of course, I had the coconut shrimp with bake potato and some clam chowder soup, probably my favorite meal.

We need your prayers once again, as we go inside one of the largest churches in America, PRISON.

Every year I blog about the Black History Prison Tour, and I thought why don't I do this for the camps. Well, this will be a start and I'm going to do my best to be consistent with it.

Camps are a little different for me this year, because of my grannybooboo "Aiden". My mom normally rolls with me, but she's been helpful with looking after Aiden. Of course, this is a picture of him from earlier this year. He is doing well and is our example of Faith in human form.

So, my road dawg for the camps is Sherelle, she's one of the speakers and we ride from Detroit together. This time we stayed in Lansing at a nice hotel on Michigan State University Grounds. Sherelle suggested HopCat for dinner, I had never eaten their food, but been to events in Detroit. We were in Lansing and it was perfect from where we were staying. I ordered the mushroom burger and the "Crack Fries" (that's what they've been termed, because their addictive) I heard about them. Listen, let me tell you, that cheese sauce that comes with it, amazing. This is where the problems begins. I do recommend you just go and try it, you will not be disappointed.

We had a 30 minute ride to the host church that partnered with Forgiven Ministry for the camp. Northeast Missionary Baptist Church, they were very hospitable. The host church normally prepares breakfast and lunch for the day. They had a pancake sausage on a stick that looked like a corn

dog. Honey, these things were delicious, I had never had one. But, guess, what I found out the name of them and where to get them. I think Aiden is gonna love these. After breakfast, we headed over to the prison to meet the dads participating in the program.

We were at G. Robert Cotton Correctional in Jackson, Michigan. We had 26 dads and a little under 31 kids that got to spend the day with their dads. I get a chance to really pour into the men by sharing my story and through praise and worship. I learn a lot about the guys and their families. We laugh, shed some tears, and give thanks to Jesus Christ, just for the day. I get them prepared for their time with me in the gym, because we do some dancing. The dads had a great time with their kids doing the hustle, cupid shuffle, soul train line, song dedication, and more. There was one little boy that stuck with me the whole time I was up. His name was Willie, his energy and outgoing personality convinces me he belongs on the stage. There was one dad, last name Jackson. He was disappointed when he learned that his kids may not be coming. But, after I got done right before lunch, his kids were at the gym door. The joy and excitement he had when he heard his name over the microphone. We had to stay behind to witness his face, because we knew they were on the way.

The caregivers are the grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, the other parent, or guardian, who are caring for these kids while their parent is locked up. We get to learn even more from talking and interacting with them. I encourage and commend them for their sacrifice and for bringing the kids. I share my music and tell my story as well. It's always nice for them to support our work and ministry through purchasing our product. And if they're in the Detroit area, I invite them to our church. I have to get use to sharing that my husband and I are the Pastors.

Just to give you some valuable information of why this program is crucial. There are over 2.2 million children with a parent incarcerated and between 80% and 90% are mothers and fathers. Of these millions of children, 228,000 are in Michigan. And 4 out of 10 are in Detroit, these are staggering numbers. All of us can do something to try to reduce and/or eliminate this cycle from continuing. The best part of the camp this month is 11 children accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior.

The inmates always look forward to this time of the year, as we do. We had 2 prisons to go to, Robinson & Sheridan. One was in the morning and the other was in the evening. In between the two, we had to take Art to the airport. We were able to catch a nap, but it was Mary having to drive is what I didn't like. I'm praying for someone to drive their RV around for us.

We arrived at Robinson for the morning event, with Chaplain David, another one of our favorites. The event was held in the gym, they had changed the set-up since we were there last. We brought in our equipment, but needed extension cords. The LTS guy that run the gym was a cool brother, he helped us out and took pictures.

After the event, we hung out for a minute, E.D. & Big Jake talked about coming back to go hunting with the Chaplain. So, we're planning that trip for the fall. They were talking about eating deer, different types of birds, and some crazy stuff.

There was 80 men that attended. 19 men accepted Christ, and 34 rededicated. There were several different religions in the room, but seeds were planted and watered.

We left there and dropped Art off at the Airport. I was grateful for the Chaplain that warmed up my left over pizza for me. I ate and went to sleep shortly after. The ride was 4 hours, because we were coming from Southern Illinois, close to St. Louis. We dropped Art off and headed back for the last prison Sheridan Correctional.

We arrived at the prison and it was laid back. We had to get a ride to the gym, because the walk is long. We got their about 10 minutes late, but they had sound set up in the gym. They don't have a Chaplain, and you can tell. We saw a few brothers from other facilities that had been transferred. The officers didn't want them to move from their seat or dance. It was crazy, we made the best of it.

E.D. was the speaker for this one and he just kicked it with them. He still stayed on the theme of the FIRE tour,he added some comedy and they were cracking up. The message God gave him, you can see the men ALL IN with their antennas up receiving everything.

There were 83 men that attended and 75 received salvation. I know there were Muslim brothers in the audience, but some raised their hands. We left there and headed back to our partner hotel for the night. We got some fast food and called it a night. We ate breakfast that morning with our friend and left for the airport.

We ended our Black History tour in Michigan at Gus Harrison Correctional in Adiran, Michigan. There were 50 brothers in the gym, we brought the same message and energy as we gave Illinois. We're planning to come back in the summer to do a LIVE FULL BAND CONCERT on THE YARD! #FUN
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/56530882019-02-21T07:45:47-05:002022-02-16T10:16:48-05:00Our Favorite Chaplains & We the Girls of the Camp
Three prisons today, and it's Day 5 of the tour. We will stop at SWICC (drug treatment prison), Graham, and Robinson Correctional. First Lady Ella met up with us again at SWICC & Graham. She was with us the other day and this time she brought something. She brought a homemade pound cake, chocolate chip and pecan cookies. That was so nice of her, and the cookies were good. We arrived at the minimum security prison and it felt like we were at a max. They didn't have my name on the list to enter, so I had to wait and go through some other stuff.

We were in the gym and the sound was great, because we brought our own stuff in. The brothers were a little laid back, but it was early. We had 66 men attend and 13 receive salvation and 28 rededicate. Some of the staff attended to kinda check us out, they enjoyed it.

We had an hour drive to the next facility, we arrived at Graham and it was one of our favorite Chaplains. The first time we were there his son was fighting for his life from a heroin overdose. And "God Over Everything" song ministered to him. We got cleared and headed to "Hope Chapel" as it was largely display from a wood design the inmate created NICCCEEE!

The men of the church were already in there ready to serve us. We got the sound hooked up and the men started coming in droves. The chapel was standing room only. It was 130 plus, filled to capacity, and they were on FIRE. I did my set and Art did the message. 22 men accepted Christ and 40 rededicated. The Gideon Crew done there set, and at the end the Holy Ghost showed up. E.D. started ministering and men started crying and a brother shouted all over the place. We put on "Consuming Fire" song and the place was on FIRE. It was time to go, but God was doing something. So, the Chaplain came up to dismiss and couldn't. He began to preach and say "He needed this, and it's hard being a Chaplain", God done something to him today". We greeted the men and had to get going to Robinson.

It was another hour drive, we ate sandwiches and snacks in the car. We arrived for the evening program 6:00p-8:00p. Our other favorite Chaplain is from Kenya and he is short brother with a FIRE from God so strong. He was happy to see us and got us over to the gym. The men came in and filled the room. It was 85 men that attended. This program was powerful, Art preached the gospel and got all on the floor with it. You could tell most of these brothers were believers how they responded. 19 received salvation and 34 rededicated.

On my set the Chicago Steppers showed up. 3 men came out to the front of the gym with me and were KILLING IT! I think we should have a Stepping Contest in the Prisons hmmmm? The Gideon Crew had them rocking out and it was a battle between both sides on God Over Everything and I Got Game.

The Lord moved at the end of there set as well...if we had about 10 more minutes something powerful would have burst forth. God moved however, we had to leave. The Major on Duty gave the Chaplain the word, and we looked up he had is coat and hat on :). I was greeted at the end by "The Girls of The Camp" is what they told me they were and wanted to shake my hand! OK. We ended the night a Monocali Pizza Restaurant next to the hotel. We did our dance party in their parking lot.

Stay with me fore the LAST DAY of the tour!
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/56515332019-02-20T08:21:31-05:002019-02-20T08:21:31-05:00Men Facility but they Look like Women
I can't believe the prison tour is almost to an end. Day 4, we went to Big Muddy, Pinkneyville, and Centralia. We arrived at the first prison early, 7:30am...the Chaplain moved the time up and he wasn't even there. We met PF Regional Director, he rolled with us for 2 facilities. We got to the Chapel and the sound system that the Chaplain said they had was WACK! We didn't bring our stuff in, because of his confidence. They had 1 speaker working which was almost gone, but we made it work. There were 36 men attended (you can tell who want's you to come and who doesn't).

I did my challenged of Detroit Ballroom vs. Chicago Steppers. And an inmate name "Red Mac" tore it up, he was about 65 or older. He said he's one of the original steppers, and champion of 1979. His homeboy saw us 5 years ago and let the brothers know we was the real deal. His favorite line he kept yelling out loud was "NO QUESTION". He was too funny. They responded well to the gospel message and 9 men for salvation and 16 for rededication.

We left there and headed to the next facility which was Pinkneyville. This is a medium to high facility. The event was held in the gym and you can feel the strongholds in the room. There were several men looking like women and booed up! Transgender men are allowed to wear make-up, take hormone pills, have breast via bra implants, etc. Big Jake and I had an entire discussion about this afterwards. I'm up first so I have to break the ice and it was hard toiling the ground. But, the Holy Spirit broke through by the end. There were 56 men attended, 18 salvations and 19 rededications. I got a chance to talk to the Chaplain about the "Hebrew Israelites" and I learned some interesting stuff.

We did our annual Walmart stop and stopped at McDonalds for a quick bite before our last facility for the evening. We arrived at Centralia and our brother Leo met us at the front. He's the Special Activities Director, he's a cool brother and looked forward to seeing us. Since seeing him 2 years ago, he was delivered from Kidney Cancer HALLELUJAH!

We got to the gym and learned that heat was working completely. We had to bring our own sound in, even though they had theirs. I kept my scarf on during my performance and put that coat on once I sat down. There were 84 men that attended and 23 salvations and 49 rededications. Art's voice is going on out so it's a struggle for him, but the gospel was preached. While Art was up, the Major and some Officers came and grabbed a brother out the bleachers and handcuffed him and took him out. CRAZY! I wanted to ask so bad what happened.

The Gideon Crew got the brothers rocking out and E.D. kicked it with them 100 and a Muslim brother talked to him afterwards. He said, "I'm with the Nation, but I never heard Jesus talked about like this how do I get out". GLORY! Another brother said, "I was dormant, but yall woke me up".

Our night ended driving through rain mixed with ice to the hotel. We stopped and ate at Fridays for dinner at 10pm :( I ordered the wrong thing and was not happy. We started the day off with a lobby call of 7:15am. We only had 5 hours of sleep the night before, so this was pushing it. However, we made it to van (except The Gideon Crew, you know, late) :(.

We arrived at Vienna Correctional greeted by the Warden & The Chaplain. It doesn't get any better than having the Warden & the Chaplain being Christians and excited that you're there. You can feel the peace in the facility and the Spirit of God from the officers, leadership is critical to the atmosphere of a prison. The Chaplain even met us with a cart to bring in the equipment and pushed it to the chapel.

We did 2 events here, a morning and evening. The morning event had 63 guys come out and 35 accept Christ and 14 rededicate. There was 3 young guys who talked and played the entire program. It was obvious they were of a different faith. But, one of them heard the Gospel and responded, but one of the other guys made him put his hand down. ONE WAY TO GOD AND IT'S JESUS!

We were able to leave our equipment as we headed to Shawnee Correctional for the afternoon event. The prison is across the street, so it was a short ride. We met the Chaplain at the door, she's a new Chaplain there. Our brother Chaplain Mike retired the last time we were there.

The chapel had new sound equipment so the music was banging! They told us the people above us was complaining, because they could feel the room shaking. "WE RAISED THE ROOF". The Gideon Crew's set brought so much laughter and fun to the men.

A brother we called "Uncle Ray", he was about 60 plus, and he challenged E.D. to a dance battle. So, E.D. started imitating the movie "LIFE". And one white guy kept yelling out, "Tell em about the Boom Boom Room Ray". I WAS DYING LAUGHING. He was bugging too, you would have had to be there. Then one man yelled out "he could sing too, just let him hit one note". So, E.D. called the musician up and then Uncle Ray, wanted the background singers and everybody to come up. So, E.D. started cracking more jokes and the inmates were cracking up. Do you think he could sing, or nawl? There was 56 men attended and 28 accepted Christ and 12 rededicated. We got a chance to do the hustle as they were coming in.

After this prison, we ate lunch at the Dairy Queen and took a nap in spring lake park. We always go here while in Southern Illinois. (see pics on my facebook page). We headed back to Vienna Correctional for the 6p-8p event. This time there were 100 men that came out, word got around and it was open call. Some of the same guys came back out. The Chapel worker and musician for the choir, is a Pastor's kid. He told us he has 50 years and he's already done 22. He had to be a teenager or young adult when he came in. It's always a Pastor's kid in the prison. The chapel has an echo and it's hard to hear, but we all made it work and the brothers really enjoyed everything. One inmate told me he was a Pastor, and the name of his church and to look it up on the internet. I WAS LIKE WOW!! 22 men accepted Christ and 19 rededicated.

We ended the night with our ritual gas station dance party for the souls won from Satan. Art & The Gideon Crew were clowning (watch our live video on my Facebook page). We got dinner at 17th Street BBQ, it was alright, because I don't eat BBQ. My burger was like the old Wendy's commercial. Stay tuned for Day 4 and what God will do!.
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/56483812019-02-18T08:06:29-05:002019-03-14T12:59:29-04:00500 Ladies & The Holy Spirit: OMG!
Day 2 was the women's facility and my day to do the devotion on the way to the prison. We had a 15 minute ride from the hotel to Logan Correctional, our first stop. We had to bring in all the equipment at both facilities. And boy was that a task, but they gave us a cart to make it easier. The walk to the gym at Logan is the "Green Mile". I'm sure I walked about 3 miles to get there, nawl I'm exaggerating, it's long though.

The ground was a little slick from the early morning rain mixed with ice. But, the inmates were out shoveling and putting down salt. We arrived at the gym and heard some noise, sounding like music. But, we opened the door and walked in to screaming, shouting and clapping. The 250 women were already in the gym waiting for us to arrive.

We set up real quick and turned on that new Kirk Franklin record "Love Theory" to test the sound and they started jamming! I shared first and the ladies rocked out with me. I did my song "I Am Healed" and Holy Spirit moved! Ladies were weeping, one lady said she received the Holy Ghost came upon her and she received the gift of tongues. Art brought the Black History topic of "Revival in the Black Church" incorporating the Gospel message. 125 ladies accepted Jesus Christ and 25 rededicated to Christ. It was so powerful, The Gideon Crew set they were ON 10. They were dancing and getting crunk on "I Got Game". The Chaplain caused confusion during their set, saying the program was over at 2pm and really it was until 2:30p. So, it threw some stuff off, but E.D. said a prayer at the end that sent the ladies into a frenzy.

We had about an hour before the next facility, so we stopped at the gas station in town. And it became a dance party in the parking lot. Big Jake, Art, Mary and Amy got summons by E.D. to bust the move. Boy was this hilarious, we gotta have some fun while we do this.

We arrived at the prison, again having to take all equipment. The officer was so nice, we got right through and to the gym. The Chaplain was not there, but the Major was a African American female, good to see. We got the sound together and kicked the program off. The women were excited and this facility has mom and baby program. So, the moms brought their babies to event. If a mother have her baby in prison, it can stay in the program for 2 years. It is limited to about 13 women, but their is a 100% no recidivism rate. WOW!

The highlight of the night was The Gideon Crew's set turned into a deliverance service. E.D turned into P.D. and God shook that that room. The ladies were wailing and shouting and getting free. One grandmother looking lady just began to scream, you saw the Spirit hit her. It was so unusual the Captain in the room, allowed them to hug each other. They are normally not allowed to do this, but you couldn't deny the power of God. 250 ladies attended the event and 110 accepted Jesus Christ, 45 rededicated.

We left and then ate at Cheddars and had 3 hour ride to the next hotel. Mary was driving fast to Big Jake and he was too funny with his comments. Stay tuned for Day 3 we got 3 facilities. Keep us in prayer!
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/56473092019-02-17T11:32:37-05:002022-03-07T20:31:59-05:00Almost 300 Men and An Officer's Prayer
We can't believe we are in our 8th year doing the Illinois Department of Corrections. God has certainly shown Himself inside of the largest church in America! We had a great 45 minute flight to Chicago and we stayed the night at the Renaissance O'Hare Airport Hotel. We are so grateful for our sister-friend that has partnered with us for all these years. Those pillows are to die for, still haven't got me any for home!

We hit Guitar Center to pick up our equipment and headed for dinner at Longhorns Steakhouse. We hadn't been out for dinner in over 2 months since Aiden's condition. It's been great though, cause we've saved some money :). After a great night of rest, it was time to hit our first facility.

We arrived at Danville Correctional where we met the Chaplain at the front gate. They wouldn't let us take our DVD player in because they said they had one. It worked for our music, but Art's music didn't work on it. The event was held in the gym and 170 men came out to Black History Event. Most gyms in the prison have a terrible echo, so it's hard to hear. But, they had the sound good enough that it worked out.

I always open up, then Art brings the message, and The Gideon Crew take us out. The brothers had a great time, one guy shared with us prior to getting started. He said he was on DEATH ROW, but God turned that thing around. He was to be executed, but God changed it to LIFE w/o parole. "Shout".

The Lord added to the Kingdom 18 men received the free gift of salvation and 43 rededicated. God is GOOD! The event went great, we greeted the brothers and they were very appreciative for us being there.

We had a 2 hour ride to the next facility, so we got gas and hit the ROAD (pun intended :). I took me a nap on that ride after eating a few snacks in the van.

We were greeted by a cheerful female officer that could SANG at Jacksonville Correctional. It's not always that way when you come inside. There were 8 Volunteers that came out to the event as well. We always enjoy meeting new people with the same passion. The Chaplain is new to the facility, but he is so cool and funny. He was worried about the event, because it's on him, if it doesn't go well. He said, "It's gonna be in the Chapel, but I don't know how many will come out.

We didn't care how many, we would do the same presentation. Well, the chapel was packed out and 110 men came out. The Chapel has all the instruments and the inmate musicians ROCKED IT OUT WITH US!! MANNNNN!! I introduced my new song, but I told them I didn't want to BUST the speakers. One of the guys yelled out, BUST THE SPEAKERS! So I closed out with "You Can't Stop Me"! And those SPEAKERS BANGED!! And the men were chanting "You Can't Stop Me, You Can't Stop"!

Art brought the message so powerful, the 55 men rededicated their life to Christ and 18 accepted Jesus as Lord & Savior. The Gideon Crew turned the place out and even called the Chaplain up to the stage with them. He was so shocked and nervous, it was too funny!

One of the brothers name Tyrone shared with us his testimony before we started. He remembered seeing us at another facility he was at. He said that he has been in for 9 years, and has been trying to prove his innocence. Well, he is going home next week, because his case was overturned. WHY? because he was innocent, and would be getting a $400,000 settlement. He is a sold out believer for Jesus Christ and said we'll be seeing him. I WAS READY TO RUN AROUND THAT PLACE! But, I knew the officers would probably put me out. (Read Psalms 146:7).

So, as we were eating refreshments after the event in the Chaplain lounge area, an Officer came in. We thought he was gonna tell us, it was time to go. But, he said I was leaving walking to the front, and God said go back and pray for them. He was a Caucasian young guy, so it wasn't expected. DO YOU KNOW? He was a BELIEVER HONEY! He prayed for us and it was powerful. In all my 80 plus prisons I've been in, AN OFFICER NEVER PRAYED FOR US! GOD IS GOOD!!

We ended the night at Cracker Barrel for dinner before they closed. It is across the street from the hotel, so I got me some catfish, fried okra and fries, with a raspberry lemonade.

I want to share with you 3 Ways to make 2016 your best year. The FIRST WAY, is knowing what it is you want to accomplish and at the end of year what you've hoped to have completed. Of course I suggest creating a Vision Board, because it gives you a tunnel vision focus on your goals. Here is a picture of the making of my 2016 Vision Board.
Vision Boards are a visual tool that you can constantly look at and visualize. What you think on expands and it becomes much easier to accomplish.

The SECOND WAY is to surround yourself with positive people and only have positive conversations. What you listen to and speak out of your mouth have an impact on your thinking.
Be conscious of what you're saying and how you're using your words in a negative or positive way. For example, "If I get me some money I'm going to......change your words to...."When I get me some money, I'm going to....our words are powerful. Death and Life is in the power of our tongue and we will eat the fruit thereof (what you say you will have).

The THIRD WAY is making sure you have BALANCE!! Don't be so consumed that you lack balance. Your emotional and physical health is crucial to make sure you're around by the end of the year. Don't allow life trials and tribulations to bring stress and illness. They're designed to make you strong and I believe God uses them to push us closer to our goals and purpose. So, do something fun and enjoyable, get a massage, go on a weekend getaway, or day trip. Treat yourself to dinner, a makeover, photo-shoot, take a class, learn a new language, or join a empowerment group. Balance helps keep your blood pressure under control.

I hope you take these 3 WAYS into consideration and apply to your life for a better 2016. The camp allows children to spend the day with Dad inside the prison. It is an unbelievable presentation and life-changing event for everyone. I have the privilege of kicking the day off with Praise & Worship with the inmates (around 8:00am). I get to meet them one-on-one and hear some of their stories about their children and families. Then I get to chance to perform my music with the dads and their kids. Afterwards, I have lunch at the host church with the Caregivers (families of the inmates) and share my music. I tell you, I think I cried more at this camp than the others I've done.

Tear #1: Well while I was doing the Praise & Worship with the guys, the guy in the picture to the right (glasses) shared that this program allowed him 6 opportunities to spend the day with his son (age 5 in this pic). The last camp (2014) he was able to throw a football with his son (now 11) and teach him how to hold the ball. His son told him at this camp he was now playing football and he plays football for him.

Tear #2: If you ever attend a camp, it is impossible not to cry during the introductions. The dads names are announced and the kids who are standing across the room, sees their dad and runs to the center (like shown in this picture). My tears rolled when I saw a young boy about 10yrs old crying uncontrollably before seeing his dad. When his dad was announced his tears outran his feet, because the embrace was moving as they both hugged, cried, and couldn't move.

Tear #3: There is a moment in the program where the inmates and the kids get to share what this day meant to them. BOYYYY I was gone when one of the guys said, "I never had a mother or a father, and being with my only son today, means the world". Then one of the teenage girls (teen girls are dear to my heart) expressed she started high school and she really need her dad there. But, this day being able to talk to him and hug him is what she needed. As I looked to the right, I saw ABC Nightline Producers and Reporter JhuJhu Chang with tons of tissue and tears falling as the testimonies were shared.

I know the Holy Spirit took over the building and left his Spirit in the place. ABC Nightline will be airing the program during the Thanksgiving holiday. The 8 minute segment, I believe will be turned into a much longer segment. There is no way what I know JhuJhu and the producers felt can be explained in 8 minutes. So, keep that in prayer that the world will feel the hearts of 2.5 Million kids with a parent incarcerated and the visionary of this ministry, Ms. Scottie!

Keep me in prayer for my next Prison Event at Huron Valley Women's Correctional facility for the Young Offenders Graduation. This is the single from my upcoming project, I'm working on for release in 2016. I want the song to empower people to take time to celebrate themselves. So often we celebrate everyone else achievements, accomplishments, and successes and neglect our own. You get an A+ on a paper, treat yourself to ice-cream, a pair of earrings. My time has been occupied since May 5th, is when my family and I went into exile. An electrical fire in my basement caused us to relocate to Dearborn, Michigan. We stayed in a hotel up until now, while our home was done over for us. When I say GOD hears your prayers, even your whispers. God strategically set this thing up, and boy did He give me my hearts desire. I'll explain how everything transpired, stay glued to my blog hear on my website for the updates.

Love yall,
SDSonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/36790392015-04-27T15:00:49-04:002015-04-27T16:23:37-04:00 Forgotten Files VIRGINIAIt was killing me not to post this blog about the last day of my Virginia Prison Event. Well, our lobby call was at 6am and we had 3 events to do on that Monday (April 13th). We arrived ready for clearance, and so were all the other officers and administration. The clearance process was like the airport, first time for me. They had the machine to get in and hold your hands up and everything.

We finally arrived to the chapel and the guys were waiting to go in and set up for the concert. Their Praise Choir kicked it off and sang a few songs. I later learned the musician was once blind and couldn't see, a previous Chaplain taught him how to play the piano using a cardboard box. He received a prophetic word that he would see again, from a preacher who visited for a service. Later that week, he got the approval to have the surgery done while he was incarcerated, and now he can see. He is over the choir and the musician, he gets out in 3 yrs. #wontHEdoit.

There were about 45 guys for the 8am event, because many worked and had other duties. But, God still did His thing, 15 guys accepted Christ and we had a great time. During the lunch time we went to the staff cafeteria and ate lunch. YES I ATE PRISON FOOD!!. Afterwards, we headed back to the chapel for the next event at 1pm and there were more that came out, because word there spreads faster than the internet. This time it was about 80 guys who came out and 1/2 of them accepted Jesus Christ.

Finally, we came to the last program of the evening, after we went for dinner at Ruby Tuesday. It was a great fellowship at lunch and conversation. When we returned for the evening program at 6pm there was a line waiting to come into the chapel. This time the place was full with standing room, AMAZING..more than 200 guys showed up. I told them I'm the closest to a Beyonce or Mary J. Blige you're gonna get so we might as well party in Jesus name!!! Majority of the men made a commitment to Christ. What was interesting is there were guys who attended all 3 events, because they said they wanted to blessed!

Virginia was great, met some wonderful folks and look forward to a return!

#ForgottenRichmondFiles #Virginia #PrisonMinistry #SonnieDay
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/36544182015-04-12T22:31:21-04:002022-03-14T17:02:56-04:00Lee Williams, Air Force Ones & Jesus

Today's events were awesome, our first event began at noon. We were set up outside on the basketball court. The weather was absolutely perfect, only designed by God. When we pulled up to go check in, we heard the piano from the distance. I assumed an inmate was playing, and the song was "Grateful" by Hezekiah Walker. I later learned it was the Chaplain, who could sing, and was a Pastor, with a heart for God. Chaplain Houston, young man on fire for The Lord, made our job easy. The atmosphere and the compound you could tell was different. I met 2 guys from Detroit, which I was happy to connect hometown folks, and one was the bass player. Their choir opened up singing "You Are Good" and closed with Casey J song, "Fill Me Up God"! We had a great time, about a 100 men or more came out and 40 souls were saved!

We took a break for dinner and what I thought was a regular Arby's was much more. This spot had a patio to eat outside, offered barbeque, tacos, zucchini bread, rotisserie chicken, fish, Mac and cheese, etc. We got a chance to fellowship with volunteers, staff and the team.

Well the evening event was held in the Chapel, and the choir was practicing when got there. I passed by a poster display at the commissary and saw the shoes guys good buy. Air Force Ones were $89.90, I was in shock. Amazing to me the dollar amount, and those who had them on!

The band was tight, with all the instruments, and great sound system. These men open the service and took us to church. The Holy Ghost took over as they song Lee Williams, "Somewhere listening for my name". One brother in the audience got his praise on and dance unashamedly before the Lords. The chapel was packed to capacity of its occupancy of 140 men, with many standing at the door. Jesus showed through all of our performances and He got the glory with 75 souls coming to Christ.

Chaplain closed the event with prayer for us and all the prayer warriors came up and joined him. They put a hedge around us prayer went forth! Once again I met 2 brothers from the D, we caught up on what's happening. There was no movement, standing, clapping, barely could respond. The equipment was set up, but there was only one mic. So, we had to get our mics and cords. We needed three mics all together, after that the sound had some muffling to it. The Warden and Chaplain apologized and said they would have a better sound system next time. The guys really enjoyed the program, had a few Chicago Steppers in the building, they were jamming. Since this was the final show, we told Mary our host she had to do 2 things. First, tell the men to "I'm Turnt" and do the swing dance during Art's portion about Jazz Music History. Well, she did both, but she told the guys "I'm turnt it up" we laughed and so did the guys. And yes she did her little dance move, so the tour was officially sealed. We had100 guys, and Chaplain David said this program really impacted the men, he can see their faces. Praise God our voices held up the entire time, without anyone losing their voices! now, we will rest up for tonight and have dinner with our girl Melanie and watch the premiere of Preachers of Detroit, which our G.O.E clothing line will make its debut!

Mission Complete!! The Chaplian met us at the door, he was glad to have us. We had the program in the gym the acoustics were a little off, and we had to adjust the sound because we were getting feedback from a local radio station in the area. After, we got it going it worked out. We had a few of the officers and staff stay for the program. We got great feedback from the 100 guys that were allowed to come. The ministering about salvation really hit home for the guys between Art and E.D the gospel was preached. At the end of the event we always asked who said the prayer of salvation when it was given. God really showed up at this facility, all 100 guys raised their hands! GOD IS AWESOME!
We left here on a high, excited about what God had done. We had about a 3hr ride to the next stop. Brian opened the event, the guys were mean mugging, as if they didn't want to be there. Brian gave them a message to get them stirred up. It was my turn to minister and these brothers participated. Art done his presentation, and the guys enjoyed it. Lastly, it was time for The Gideon Crew, and E.D. began by cracking jokes, calling me "Nicki Minaj" and Art "Morris Chestnut" Brian " Eminem" and themselves as "Biggie & Tupac". The men laughed so hard, it was good to see them with laughter. As the Gideon Crew were performing God Over Everything, several officers came rushing in thinking something was going on. The brothers were turned all the way up, so much so, their set was cut. They didn't get to their last song, but God evidently wanted the inmates to remember "God Over Everything". The Assistant Warden of Programs came to the event and gave us a good report and enjoyed it. #Prisonministry #sonnieday #prisontourSonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35431622015-02-19T16:17:58-05:002015-02-19T16:17:58-05:00DAY 5: Prison Tour-Show #12This morning event was powerful. We went to Shawnee Correctional with one our favorite Chaplain Mike Williams. Chaplain met us at the door with a big smile and nothing but love. We were a little late, but we rushed in and got set up in the chapel. The men were on fire and happy for us being there. Everyone done a remarkable job, and ushered the Spirit of God in. But, the turn up got real when one of the Old G's started jamming while I was singing my remake of the Classic Isley Brothers song, For The Love of You. This brother, who I later found out was a Muslim brother challenged me because I said Detroit held the title for Ballroom. Old G came up to the front while I was singing and started Chicago Stepping. When I say he cut up, boyyyyyyy he was bugging, I gave him the floor. I wish I had a video camera, because I know this guy won some awards back In the day! There was about 70 men who came out, and 46 accepted Christ. Chaplain Mike took us to lunch before our next prison which was next door. Follow my blog for updates of what's happening in prison. cXc#prisonministry #prisontour #sonniedaySonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35421712015-02-19T07:52:41-05:002015-02-19T17:35:13-05:00DAY 4: Prison Tour-Show #11Tonight's event was on FIRE! We were at Big Muddy Correctional Facility! There was about 100 guys allowed to come, and many were believers. They anticipated our return it has been 2yrs since we were last there. These brothers came in singing our music, I told them they had great memories. B-Ganhs kicked the evening off he stirred them up with the Word of God, telling his testimony! The praise continued as I ask them to be apart of the choir! and they were jamming. They enjoyed Art's portion on Black History and Jazz music, his impersonation of Louis Armstrong, stands them to their feet! Finally, the moment they all were waiting for The Gideon Crew, their jam, God Over Everything. Even the hearing impaired inmates were jamming and signing at the same time. It was something to see. When they got to the final song, You Don't Know What I've Been Through, set the men on fire. The Holy Ghost came in they begin to worship and praise God. The officers got nervous, thinking it was like a riot, several begin to come inside the gym. We went over our time a little bit, the power of God move, a man who was in his wheelchair the entire program, stood up during the time. Jesus was in the room! Every man in that gym raised their hand for salvation, hallelujah!,

I became a little bothered after we were asked to leave first, and couldn't greet the guys. As some of the men were standing up to wave at us going out, an officer yelled real loud "SIT" like they were animals! Please pray for the administration, the officers, even more so than the inmates. I leave you with the video from The Gideon Crew!
Follow the blog to stay up to date with what's happening in prison. #prisonministry #prisontour #YouVistMeNot
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35405022015-02-18T17:18:31-05:002015-02-18T17:18:31-05:00DAY 4:Prison Tour-Show #10We arrived around noon at Pinckeyville Correctional Facility and it was a very easy going entrance for us. The chaplain showed us hospitality and also the assistant warden was very helpful! The sound system was set up very nice for us in the gymnasium, and we were able to present our music ministry with clarity. This particular prison is pretty known for having a rough crowd, but you definitely couldn't tell after we were done ministering! God broke chains, I seen men be set free and unashamed to praise God! They were involved with us and received the gospel of Jesus Christ. Out of 170 men, there were around 70 who accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior!!!! #MissionAccomplished #PrisonMinistry #YouVisitMeNot Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35399042015-02-18T16:04:11-05:002015-02-18T16:51:05-05:00DAY 4: Prison Tour-Show #9This is the day The Lord has made! We have three prison stops today. Our lobby call was 7:45a, we went to the juvenile prison. The program today was a little different but with my favorite population , young people. We hung out with 50 young men and gave them a fun time in The Lord. The kids were looking at us to check us out. Of course, our 15 plus years working with kids , certainly helps in these circumstances. In the beginning you had a few that were getting with you, after a little while they warmed up. The kids had a great time, and were glad we came. The Gideon Crew did there music without the track, often times young people focus on the beat than words. The words of the songs ministered to their hearts. The Chaplain leaned over and told me, "They are really hitting home , and cutting deep". During my set, I asked who was the singer in the room, two people raised there hand. Only one of the guys, DaJohn was willing to come up and and sing with me. I shared a lesson with them never miss an opportunity to share your gift, because you never know who could be asking you! There were 43 kids selected to attend, and 25 made a decision to accept Christ! Follow my blog to stay up on what's going on in prison. #prisonministry #youvisitmennot #sonniedaySonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35384562015-02-17T23:17:39-05:002015-02-17T23:17:39-05:00DAY 3:Prison Tour-Show #8Thanks to everyone that has been following my blog for this tour. Our evening event was for 6pm-8pm, but when the Chaplain has favor and gives it to you, our time was whatever we wanted. This group of guys were excited about our arrival, an anticipated our arrival, glad to see us. The men came in while we were in a prayer circle preparing for the event. The Chaplain was an awesome man of God, his Spirit was so warm and loving. There was about 175 men that came to program, in which they have to sign up to attend. I'm telling you have to see the power of God move inside the walls. These men had the gym already together, with a projector screen and graphics.

At at the end of the program, is when we learn who has accepted Christ. Not only did these men accept Christ but when the altar call was given the guys responded. Approximately, 100 men made the decision to be for real with God. This was a remarkable event the guys encourage one another and showed love. Oh yeah we called up some folks to help us, Old G reed lol was dancing with ton of energy, he had to be at least in his late 70 years old.

We are headed to the hotel, I'm looking forward to remainder days, please pray for us. #prisonministry Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35379312015-02-17T18:19:14-05:002015-02-17T22:25:25-05:00DAY 3: Prison Tour-Show #7This event was absolutely beautiful, seeing that they had it on Lockdown! We didn't hear the message from the Chaplain at 8:30am, saying that our event was canceled. So, of course we showed up and no one told us differently. The event was in the chapel, where 70 men were allowed to attend. The program started a little late leaving us 1.5hr. We worked the time, the men were very receptive. The program ended with us being given extra time. The Holy Spirit moved mightily men were crying and being delivered. The Gideon Crew song You Don't Know set this atmosphere. They ended with an altar call, and all the men came to the altar, majority of the rededicated their lives to Christ. It was an awesome experience for these men, you could see the shackles being broken. After all of that we still had another 20min because of shift change, and no movement goes on. So,the guys wanted to hear more music, so we did some more music. You ought to come outside of your 4 walls of your church, God is doing some great things inside the prison.

We are preparing for our last facility at Graham Correctional, they are expecting us and on fire for our return, it's been 2 years. Get ready for the praise report ahead! #prisonminstry #sonnieday #YouVisitMeNot Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35371122015-02-17T13:12:30-05:002015-02-17T22:24:19-05:00DAY 3:Prison Tour-Show #6It's the third day of the tour, we woke up in hopes that the 2 prisons for the morning and afternoon would be off lock down! We made the call to learn that the first prison was off lockdown and the gym was set up. Well, we got there and the lift had not been done yet, our program was to start at 8:30am. Well, they weren't going to release the men until 9:30, and that turned into 10:00am by the time we started. In the meantime, we played a game of 21 (Big Jake, B-Ganhs, and I), and the Assistant Warden of Programs brought donuts and orange juice. She was the first African American Sister I've seen so far in that position.

Well, finally the men came in about 135 guys, majority black and under 40. There were a lot of guys under 25, which I hate to see! These guys were stiff necked, some got into and some didn't. B-Ganhs kicked it off to open them up, we only had 1hr.20min. So, he performed and many were just looking, so I was up next a and again many were just looking. We had to stir them up, and give them hope. When I done my remake of "For The Love" by the Isley Brothers, they transformed.

Finally, The Gideon Crew came to close us out, and they went hard, Detroit flavor! E.D. ministered to these brothers and gave them some hard hitting truths. He shared his story and really spoke to the young cats in a language they could understand. You immediately saw that haughty spirit and hardcore attitude change. The invitation to Christ was given by Art, and E?D brought it home, and 120 of the men accepted Christ and made a commitment, the rest were our Muslim brothers. The officers on duty were so impressed with our message they thanked us, over and over!

We are headed to the next prison and HALLELUJAH IT iS OFF LOCKDOWN! The program started about 30mins late for no apparent reason. There were 150 guys who came out to the program. At first they were stiff neck, just looking at us, so I had to give some reminders. I reminded them they were breathing and that is a privilege no matter where you are, locked up or not! I told them we came to give you a concert and lift up Jesus. Finally, I said I'm the closest to a Beyoncé or Jennifer Lopez you're gonna get. So, let's have some fun in Jesus because you got in a free concert! After we got that out the way I began my set and all was well!

We offered the invitation to Christ, not an invitation to join a religion, by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a response, over half the men prayed the prayer of salvation. Well, we ended the night playing basketball in gym. Yes we couldn't leave until all of us made a shot. Of course out of all the guys, I made my shot first! The officers were great and waited until we got done. Now, we are headed to our next stop for tomorrow. Looking forward to laying my head down, pray for us, the prison in the morning is on full lock down. Praying God open the door for us to go in! Today we went to Logans Correctional which is a women's prison with about 2000 inmates. God blessed us to be able to minister to two groups of women at two different programs. The first program was at 9:00am and the second one at 12:00p. The first program about 125 ladies came out and the second program was 75. We have no control on who gets to come to the events, but there are many dynamics to the process. The Chaplain and the 2 officers assigned to the gym were sooooo amazing! The officers were women of God, which made it so much easier to minister.

Both programs was so on FIRE, there was a move of God that shook the room. Every song ministered to the ladies, they were worshipping and praising God! The anointing was so thick in the room, the women begin shouting, dancing, worshipping God, laid prostrate in worship, kneeled on their knees. It was a moment you will never forget. We got word after the first event the officers on the cell block wondered what happened. They said the ladies came back weeping and just wanted to go to their cells, said they were full. Of the 200 women we were blessed to share with, 130 accepted Christ and/or rededicated their lives to Christ. When I tell you they worshipped God, without hiding behind an organ, no musician ready to play shout music, it was pure worship!
These sisters served us gladly, set up the sound system, ushered and no one complained about where they were sitting "church folks" The love for one another is certainly evident, I saw Jesus inside the prison!

Please continue to pray for us, we are grabbing lunch and headed to our last prison for the day, Taylorsville,. Follow my blog for updates, and what's happening inside the prison.Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35333762015-02-15T22:22:13-05:002015-02-15T22:27:05-05:00Day 1: Prison Tour-Show #2We arrived at Robinson Correctional a little early, after we had lunch at Fuddruckers. The officers were nice checking us in, very easy going! The Chaplain came to greet us with a huge smile and nothing but joy for us being there. Our program was held in the gym, so while we're waiting Big jake and B-Ganhs started playing basketball. After we checked the sound system, which was lovely, E.D. and Big Jake had a jam session on the drums and congas, oh yet Art joined in in the flute. They got carried away and loud, the officer had to yell and tell them to get off, he apologized later. But, I had told them they need to chill out! Finally, the program was ready to start, the guys came in ready and grateful. We were on schedule, the program was to run from 6:30p-8:30p, so we were geeked! There was about 60 guys came out, we learned the All-Star game was and it was a cold walk from the cell, so that took precedent. Anyway, we were grateful for who God predestined to be there! When I say we had a Holy Ghost good time. The choir song with the band (inmates), I'm telling you I will have me a band of Christian ex-prisoners. Some of the baddest musicians are behind bars! Everyone done their set, things were going smooth. The Gideon Crew shifted the atmosphere into worship, and these men poured their hearts out to God. As they were going to begin to rap, we were told we had to end the program. We had 20 minutes actually left, but we were cool with it. Invitation to Christ had went forth and 40 of the men accepted and rededicated their lives to Christ! After we left the prison and was driving, we didn't realize the hatch on the Suburban had come open. Thank God only one bag had fell out, so we turned back around and there it was still in the street! We're headed now to the hotel, to prepare ourselves for Day 2, and 3 shows. Please continue to pray for us! #prisonministry #sonnieday #YouVisitMeNot Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35325882015-02-15T15:34:59-05:002015-02-16T17:51:26-05:00DAY 1: Prison Tour: Show # 1Today kicked off the first prison stop for the Black History Tour. We arrived to Statesville prison, the oldest prison in the country. We had 3 volunteers joining us for the event, from Illinois. We began the check in and clearance process, and boy we could feel the adversaries presence. We came together and prayed in the lobby!, while, waiting to be called for clearance. As we all are cleared to head inside the prison, we learn from Officer Davis that our event was cancelled. She said they got a call that it was cancelled. She had to call the Chaplain and Deputy, and they gave us the ok, but no one knows who cancelled it. Finally, made it to the next level of clearance, we get there to learn we needed visitor badges. Now, we had to wait, and the Officer had to bring them over to us. After this, we find out since they canceled the event the original 150 inmates that were waiting for us in the gym were sent back. Now, the second call out they only allowed 25 guys to come back out. We get to the gym and see that they didn't set up the sound equipment. So, once again, we are delayed, now the 2hr program has been reduced to 1hr. The Holy Spirit did his thing, the presence of The Lord was stirred and invitation to Christ given. 1 soul was saved, and the guys really enjoyed the program. We are now headed to Robinson Correctional for an evening program. Follow my daily blog, to see what is happening inside the prison.

Love Y'all,
Sonnie DaySonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/35320992015-02-15T08:08:11-05:002015-02-15T08:08:11-05:0010 Hours to ChicagoHey Family,

Well it's that time of the year again for the Black History Tour we do in Illinois. We will be inside of 15 prisons and doing 16 shows in 6 days. God has honored us to be in the presence of at minimum 3000 plus inmates. We will get to share Jesus, encourage, and spread the love of Christ. Please pray our strength and that God will do just what He does!

We started our journey from Detroit on Saturday morning about 9am we hit the highway. We had to stop at our traveling tradition restaurant for breakfast "Cracker Barrel". Well, the manager showed us favor, because he was a hometown friend of Charleston's in Pontiac.

After we ate breakfast, we got back on the highway, 94 West toward Chicago. When I tell you we were in the EYE OF THE STORM....OH BOY!! The snow came down with blowing wind. It became literally unbearable where we couldn't see anything. There were several accidents, collisions, police and ambulance. It was stop and go traffic for majority of the trip. We had to pray the entire way, because we were surrounded by foolish drivers, traffic jams where anyone could hit you.

It literally took us 10hrs to Chicago which normally takes 4.5hrs. But, God spoke to all of us through this situation, and what he spoke to me was very much needed for me.

He said, "What you know is how long it should take to get to where you want to go, however you don't know the process I will take for you to get there. I got a feeling the next 28 days will bring surprise, joy, and unusual things to take place. There are some THINGS that God has in store for those that love Him. I got a feeling He will release some of those things in February. As we reflect on the significance of this month LOVE, let us remember the ultimate love sacrifice. What person would give up their life for sake of others living? Jesus Christ understood His purpose was to save the world. This is my Birthday & Wedding Anniversary Month, and of course the time we celebrate Jesus birth. I am EXCITED to be turning another age and look forward to what the next 365 will bring. My husband was so in LOVE with me that he went along with marrying me the day before my birthday. We got married on a Sunday evening December 22nd and celebrated my birthday the next day. I can't believe it will be 12yrs in 10 more days! My husband teased me last night by saying, he's been "12yrs a Slave" I thought that was SO FUNNY. Because, he is certainly the best husband in the world and does anything to make me happy!

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/33071562014-11-19T20:10:39-05:002022-04-19T05:43:20-04:00Women's Prison Messed Me Up!!OMG!! When I tell you that the young offenders graduation ceremony at the women's correctional facility blessed my soul. The talent behind those walls from singing, dancing, acting and to top it all off the LOVE is beyond amazing! There were four ladies who graduated from the 6 month program conducted by Prison Fellowship. The ladies have 8 modules that they go through its a pre-release program that helps them prior to coming home. The ladies put together skits with other inmates who were previous graduates of the program to express their learning. WOW!! these skits were awesome and well put together. As a script writer myself (my other gift), I could see productions coming to life. Well, let me tell you I was unable to bring my tracks in, so I had to sing with no music. So, I had to pull out my P&W & Choir Directing skills and get the job done! I made the audience my choir and sang like never before! But, what stood out the most of the entire night. Before we left they wanted to dedicate a song specifically to me, when I heard the music the tears formed, it was "Encourage Yourself" boy did I need to hear that song and the young girl tore it up!! Tears overflowed even more after the song, when the young lady came up to me and said "Can you please tell Mr. Day I said hi he was my music teacher in elementary school! #Iwaslostforwords #JESUS #prisonministrySonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/31220052014-08-04T19:14:28-04:002022-03-07T20:32:43-05:00God Worked It!! MEXICO To PRISONI heard a top Dpt of Corrections Administrator say they was totally against bringing children into the prison. Until she had a chance to see and hear the impact it had on the rehabilitation and the family restoration of with inmates. Your intentions is to remain excited with a celebratory attitude, but it's just not happening. When I see men meet their children for the first time, or teenage boys embrace their dad with tears in both their eyes. This here is a memory planted in your brain and hearts for years.

This past Saturday, I went to Cooper Street Correctional in Jackson, MI. We had 58 kids and 32 dads, with 115 volunteers and 30 caregivers for this camp. I get the privilege of sharing my story and entertaining through my music. Well, each camp I do there is a story or something sentimental that occurs. This particular camp, assured me God is pleased with this work!!

Brace yourself for this AWESOME TESTIMONY of GOD AT WORK!! We had a 14yr old girl who hadn't seen her dad in 7yrs. This is typical and not uncommon, however, she lived in Mexico and her dad is incarcerated in Michigan. Both her and her dad were approved to participate in the program, however the 14yr old didn't have a passport. We all know it takes a while to get a passport, especially from another country.

Well, this was the week of the event (Saturday) and that Tuesday of the same week she had no passport. Also, Mexico required a photo of the dad, to assure everything was legit. Inmates can't just take pictures and send without all the mail processing stuff and to Mexico, in 3 days. NOT HAPPENING!!

To make a long story short, Jesus orchestrated some stuff and the 14yr old boarded a flight arrived in the U.S. on Thursday. And, it was Saturday morning that I saw her embrace her dad with the longest hug a person would ever enjoy seeing.

Lastly, when I got home that night, I received a text from a young mother who son's father is incarcerated. She told me, for the 40 minutes I had the mic, I inspired her SOOO MUCH! It is these stories that I hold dear, and they certainly keep me going!!

#MISSIONMALACHI4:6 If you would like to donate to the efforts of this mission please let me know and I can tell you how!

Love,
Sonnie Day
www.sonnieday.orgSonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/30864302014-07-19T11:47:47-04:002014-07-19T11:47:47-04:00It's Been A WhileHey Folks,

Thanks for stopping by my page and clicking on this blog. We had a great time seeing these guys get their certificates and enjoy a great meal. We had 2 events on yesterday, first with the Level 4 guys, this group of men have done some hard crimes. However, they still are just like you and I, regular folks! The support this group had for one another when it was time to get certificates was like a high school graduation. And for many, it was the first thing they had ever accomplished. We heard some intelligent reflection speeches of how the program impacted them, WOW! There was about 60 guys who completed the 40 days of Peace and 40 days of Power. They got their picture taken with the Warden and Kit and cheesed the whole time.

Later in the afternoon, we had our 2nd event with about 160 guys (Level 2) who completed the programs. This group of men were guys we had become acquainted with because of our frequent visits. They were so happy to see us again and for us to come celebrate with them. The excitement for Fried Chicken and Potato's was very interesting to watch. We done music and the guys danced and song, it was a day they would remember forever. The guys told me they saw me on Dorinda's show on TCT when I performed. They wanted us to sign autographs and treated us like we're celebrities, its unreal.

Finally, our night ending with dinner at Red Lobster and prepared for an early rise, to get back to our realities called LIFE. It is great to be appreciated and to share your gift with men who are always looked down upon. I am grateful God has chose us for this mission work, and we are working the field.

P.S. I am in Muskegon, Michigan along with The Gideon Crew doing 4 events. This time we are celebrating with over 600 men who made a decision to be PEACEFUL for 40 days. This is extremely difficult inside a prison, which I am sure you can imagine. However, these brothers have done it, regardless of color, religion, or gang affiliation. So, we get to celebrate with them as they receive their certificates and enjoy a meal they could only dream of having. Afterwards, we laugh, dance and have fun through music.

May I submit to you the things we take for granted like FRIED CHICKEN & BIRTHDAY CAKE. The food for the first prison Muskegon Correctional & Westshoreline Correctional was catered by Lee's Chicken. The joy in these men eyes was amazing, I never seen anyone so excited to get 2 pieces of chicken, mash potato's and gravy, green beans, biscuit, cookies, and lemonade in my LIFE! It taught me a lesson though.

The men were so appreciative that we came to share with them, took off work, just to see them happy! I have learned over the years and through my relationship with Jesus, it is quite SIMPLE. I've discovered the formula is simple, and has been given to us as a free gift called the "Bible". It is the only book in the world that has been sold and given away more than any other book. Also, it is the #1 Bestseller of ALL TIMES, and yet it is still around and has been passed on through thousands of generations. Here is what God has given me and I use, so I want to share with you (success is ones own personal definition). Success does not mean money, fame and fortune, get an understanding, the scriptures confirms that!! "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? (Mark 8:36). Therefore, we can not say worldly gain equals success!! You can take a look at what I believe is the Formula for Success.

I challenge you to use these 6 points in your life and watch what happens. The Word of God can't lie it is designed to prove itself to those that believe it. Many people miss the opportunity for the rewards it has to offer, because they choose not to believe and apply its principles. You may say, well Sonnie I don't understand all of this and I need some guidance. I make offers to those who are SERIOUS and WILLING TO DO THE WORK! Great news, we were able to go in!. But our first stop was at Sheridan Correctional, we ministered to 110 men. 28 men accepted Christ and rededicated their lives. You could see the oppression on some of their faces. What was weird is the enemy interrupted the Gideon Crew on their song, that ministers! The officer was given orders to end the program! (IT WAS CRAZY).

But the brothers were very upset, they gave us a standing ovation. They began yelling out, let them finish the song, apologizing! But the officer said it wasn't his fault!
One of the bosses from PF came along with us, he had heard a lot about us, and was very impressed.
We prepared to go to the next prison which is Stateville, the oldest prison in the United States. YES, this was the real deal, we had been to this one before. It took us forever to get through clearance and we walked the long mile. We saw some brothers inside of a cage, like animals (BOY WAS I MAD).

We had to bring in our own mics and cords, and set things up. They only allowed 50 guys to come out, because of the lock down. The 36 brothers accepted Christ and rededicated their lives. This was the highlight of the event, I was singing my song, "For the Love" and one of the brothers began to ad-lib, I just let him take the song! HE WAS JAMMING! They had a good time! At the end of the program a lot of officers in white shirts came in the gym, we were wondering what was going on. It was the Director of Illinois Department of Corrections, The Warden, Deputy Warden, etc. All the big wigs of corrections, stop by the gym to see the show and meet us. Sometimes we discuss whether it is a maximum, minimum security, or male or female. So, as we were traveling I learned it was a women's prison where there children are allowed to visit and spend time with them. They have a playground on the facility and moms with newborns are allowed to have their children with them for the first 3 months. With this program those women, there is a 100% recidivism rate (meaning they never return to prison again) hmmmm....take note what works!

So, we arrived to Decatur Correctional Center a little late because we were turned around, but the Chaplain was awaiting. We entered the gym and 200 ladies began screaming and shouting with joy to see us. This was the best program of all, unfortunately they were told to remain seated. So, we rocked out in the chairs, but some couldn't contain themselves and stood anyway. The ladies were weeping, even those who acted like they didn't want to be there, were transformed. There was 170 ladies who accepted and rededicated their lives to Christ. We were unable to greet the ladies at the end (I hate that), because we had to get to the next facility.

Next, we arrived at our afternoon event at Danville Correctional. The set up was in the gym and they had a stage set up with mics and video cameras. This was the first time I had seen the ability to record inside the prisons. The call out was for 160 guys to attend event. However, others could watch the program on the closed circuit broadcast inside the prison. This was a tough crowd, we think they had been told something before we got there. There were about 130 guys who came out and 40 accepted and rededicated to Christ. We ended the night with going to a steakhouse restaurant, where I had jumbo shrimp dinner. Yes it was good!Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/26066322014-02-19T07:45:51-05:002017-01-15T16:18:02-05:00BLACK HISTORY PRISON TOUR: DAY 3The tour has been going great, and today the Lord really showed up. We had a lobby call at 7:50am, I just know the names of the prisons not who is there. As we were heading to leave, running a little behind, a lady appeared out of know where. She asked if we could give her a jump, because her car wouldn't start. As we contemplated, because we were running behind, Jacob told the lady yes we can before we knew it. But, getting to the prison on time is a big deal!. So, we were pulling off, because we really didn't have the time. But, Jacob insisted, she might be an angel, we have to help her. Of course we did, it took little over a 5 minutes. I just wonder what would have happened had we not helped.

We arrive at the prison (Logan Correctional), where the officers were not the friendliest. We went through the pat down, taking your shoes off, etc. Then the Chaplain arrived to get us, boy was she a sweetheart! It wasn't until I saw some ladies working outside that I knew we were at a women's facility. We done 2 shows here and ministered to 160 ladies, (this prison is said to be the largest prison women prison in the U.S.) There population is 2050, and you can see the strongholds and the spiritual warfare with getting them to come to the program. However, the Spirit of God moved, the ladies were weeping, one of the ladies told Mary "I never felt like this before, what is happening?" Jesus took over and 85 souls were saved and rededicated to Christ. The Chaplain says, "In all of my 8 years in Corrections, I have NEVER seen a program such as this, you guys are on my A1 list, I must have you back".

After we did our usual Walmart run, we ate Subway (lite) because we had the last event for the evening. This was directly across the street at Lincoln Correctional with the men. The service was in the multipurpose room above the gym (really neat setup). The sound system was perfect and the brothers in the Christian community were out first, on time and on fire. We ministered to 120 men and 65 souls were saved and rededicated, the brothers done poetry for us and grateful for us coming. One guy says he is out in 30 days, and says I got to have your music. Asked is it on I-Tunes, although I don't know how to work a computer, but my kids do. He had been locked up for 15 years, it just brought joy that he was going home soon.

The night ended with a stop at Culver's for ICE-CREAM, SHAKES, and BANANA SPLITS! Well, our lobby call today was at 7am, I arrived about 2 minutes late. It wasn't as if I was not ready, I was trying to do some homework before departing. We were met outside with snow mixed with ice, and we had a 40 minute ride to the prison. Of course, I took a nap while riding, and the rest watched the road. We arrived at Dixon Correctional and prepared to set up for the service, which was in the gym.
Sometimes the sound in the gym is the worst because of the echo. After getting things together, we ministered to 240 men. We could tell we were among some strongholds and gang related activity. Oftentimes, the inmates that come out, its like a reunion because they don't see each other all the time. After we presented the gospel program, there were close to 60 souls accepting Christ.

Next, we traveled to East Moline Correctional, the Chaplain met us and was excited we made it safely. This group of men were separated in the gym, we could have no contact with the guys. Normally, we get to meet and greet, shake hands, etc. This prison is just below a maximum security prison, but believe it or not you're safer in prison (Weird ha). But, the guys have told him he should do stand-up and think he is the funniest. There were 210 brothers who came out, and were blessed. Approximately 90 brothers accepted Christ, our mission is accomplished and the angels rejoice. Finally, the Warden wanted to meet us, so went to his office and what a blessing. His heart and vision for the place is just as it should be "rehabilitation". He welcomed us to come back and do some more programs. (FAVOR). E.D. asked if he mind if we prayed with him, and he was very receptive. Finally, our last event was cancelled because of the weather, not enough manpower so they were on lock down. So, we headed back to Gailisberg, IL to check in the hotel. We ended the night at "BONANZA", I remember going to this restaurant as a kid. We are headed into day 3 with three programs and a lobby call at 8:05am.

You are welcome to follow me on my social networks, continue to pray for us as we do a work that many are not equipped or afraid to do!

P.S. Today, we done 2 shows at Dickson Correctional and East Moline Correctional Facilities. Each morning one of the team does a 5 minute devotional to prepare our minds for what's ahead. Dickson was our first stop where our 2hr program was condensed into 1hr and 15 minutes. You have to be flexible when going inside prisons, because you never know what may occur. Although our time was shorten, the Lord still moved mightily. We still had the opportunity to share our ministries with an audience of 360 MEN in their auditorium. Next, we traveled to East Moline, where I was able to catch a quick nap because of the 1hr plus drive. After shaking off the sleep mode, we were ready to go inside. BTW because the walk is so long to the chapel and auditorium, we rode in the PRISON TRANSPORT vans. Boy was I excited to now say I rode in the van with the cages behind the driver, like in many movies I have seen. The 2nd stop was in the chapel where 81 brothers attended the event. MAN WAS THE HEAT ON BLAST!!. The power of God was released in the atmosphere where if our time was not up, we would have had "some church". The Assistant Warden of Programs came to the event and really enjoyed it and invited us to come back anytime. Jesus showed up and 18 brothers accepted Christ! We ended the evening with going to eat at a Mexican restaurant. Definitely, outside of my norm, but the shrimp and steak fajitas were GOOD! We took the picture you see, with some hats they allowed us to wear! The thought came to mind when I was a little kid and the games we played. Whenever we played relay race, there was a starting point everyone was to begin at. The starting point signaled that everyone started at the same point, So whatever it is you are wanting to do, just START..."ON YOUR MARK". Regardless, there is always a starting point.

Next, the phrase was "Get Set", this signified to me to make sure my mind was focused. Also, that my shoelaces were not loose, and I was prepared for the race. I have realized whatever journey or endeavor, I have to make sure I have the proper gear and necessary tools.

Finally, the only thing left to do was to "GO". As I reflect, once the race began, you kept moving until you reached the finish line. However, I do recall if one of the runners were not winning or felt defeated they would quit, or yell the one winning was cheating. There are many of us running a race, and may feel like quitting or think others are faster than you are. I encourage you to stay in the race, because every race has a finish line. You just may be close to finishing! Remember, "the race is not given to swift, nor to the strong, but to the one that endures to the end". RUN YOUR RACE, STAY IN YOUR LANE, AND FINISH STRONG, YOU GOT THIS!!~SD

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/25452822014-02-08T16:08:34-05:002014-02-08T16:08:34-05:00It's On the InsideIt has been a minute since I have written on my blog. I have so much going on, without complaint though, just need to balance. I am sitting in my den on the couch, watching television and a thought came to mind. I was thinking about what's on the inside of each of us. There is more within us, but we have to activate what's within. One of my favorite scriptures, I have committed to memory is Ephesians 3:20. It says, " Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can think or even ask, according to the power that works within us". Although, I know this scripture by memory, but I love to meditate on it and begin to dream. The latter part of the scripture says "the power that works within us". I have learned there is a power within us waiting to go to work. But, we must connect to the power and allow HIM to work. Your thoughts are limitations to what God is capable of doing. So, I want to encourage you, what you are thinking you want in life or even desire to do, GOD can do or take you BEYOND, ABOVE, and EXCEED all of that!! #LETITREGISTERSonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/23876992014-01-13T08:19:59-05:002017-01-15T16:18:01-05:00New BeginningsThe NEW YEAR has arrived and we have already began several days within 2014. I am overjoyed to be apart of this great time to know Jesus and working to advance His kingdom. I hope your goal this year is to better yourself. There are many things we all can do to improve, myself included. I have many new endeavors I want to embark upon in 2014, and I encourage you to as well. Regardless to what you didn't accomplish or get to do in 2013, remember it is the past. Now, you have a fresh start and a new opportunity to start over. Often times we beat ourselves up for not sticking to the plan we made for ourselves. As the Bible tells us in Proverbs 19:21 "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the will of the Lord that will prevail". I relate to this all the time, because I can have exactly what I wanted to do for the day, and BOOM! God's plan for me has already been written according Jeremiah 29:11. So, I have learned to stop tripping and go with the flow of the day. I am not saying don't have a plan, agenda, goals to accomplish. What I am saying is allow room for the Holy Spirit to direct your path, and it just may not be on your To Do List. I encouraged you to step out on faith, go after those dreams, try something new, and better YOU! PLAY THE BEAT TO YOUR OWN DRUM, HEAR THE RHYTHM!
Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/23091652013-12-31T09:08:44-05:002013-12-31T09:09:33-05:00Build it Up in 20143 steps for building positive habits !

1. Start small A tiny habit is easier to stick to. Do you resolve to exercise more often this year? Start with just 10 pushups a day or a short jog around the neighborhood — something so quick that there’s no excuse not to do it. Once a habit begins to feel natural, increase the amount of time or effort you spend.

2. Fit new habits together with existing habits Choose a habit that’s already second nature, then schedule your new habit immediately after. Think about your own days: what existing habits can be extended or transformed? If you’ve resolved to read more, place a book next to your cup of morning coffee. If you intend to brush up on a new language, stick vocabulary cards into your gym bag and take advantage of that post-workout jolt of energy. Existing habits can be a seamless gateway to new activities.

3. Practice makes perfect You’ll probably need a few nudges before your resolution truly becomes second nature. Create checkpoints to help you stay on track: enlist a friend to keep you honest, set alarms throughout the day, or mark your successes on a calendar. The more regularly you practice your new activity, the more quickly it’ll become a part of your life.

Courtesy of Luminosity.comSonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/22446512013-12-17T09:01:33-05:002021-12-28T15:38:13-05:00FAITH Makes It PossibleFaith...we hear this word often throughout our lives, or the phrase "Faith It til you Make It". I heard this and it sounded cliche'ish (if that is even a word). But, I begin reading a book with that same title by Ben Tankard. He is a multi-millionaire whose hands were anointed by the Holy Spirit to play the piano. He became the Godfather of Gospel Jazz as we know it today. He has this FREE downloadable book on his website (www.bentankard.org), only 50 pages, but powerful pages. I am already on page 20, I know I could read all at once, but I am doing the action steps.

If he shares his story how his life changed by FAITH, what do you got to lose? right! I have always believed and had faith, but I am renewing my mind to prepare for 2014. My expecation for this upcoming year is ridicously outrageously crazy. I am walking out the blessings overtaking me (Deuteronomy 28:2) . I realize my Faith activates the Favor in my life. I created this illustration while teaching a class on Faith & Favor at my church. It became so CLEAR, that my faith attracts the favor of God. God only is moved by our faith, every example of healing or restoration in the Bible, it was the Faith of the person. Their faith moved Jesus, and instantly they received. Just like there are INSTANT MESSAGES...there will be INSTANT BLESSINGS.

Everyone will not read this blog, however you who are it is purposed for you to do so. Know there is a measure of faith given to all of us. However, it is up to us to grow our faith, enlarge it and exercise it daily. I hope your reading this, compels you to examine where you are in your faith. Focus on one thing you know it will take FAITH to obtain, and put all your hope and trust in God. The moment you believe, you have recieved it, GO GET IT. "Jesus replied, what is impossible with men is possible with God" (Luke 18:27).

Call to Action: Share this blog with a friend, if you haven't joined my email list please do so on my website: www.sonnieday.org. Wonder so far on a dream or desire you have that you forget where you are or what you were doing last. I have been there several times as I dreamed of my future or even just what I will encounter in 2014. There are so many people afraid to dream of simply the possibilities, because their faith is not even the size of the mustard seed mentioned in the bible (Luke 17:6). I never imagined I would be doing what I am doing. But, as I reminisce standing on a stage at the age of 4 singing Debbie Boone's "You Light Up My Life", I wasn't afraid. I remember rehearsing in our dining room with my cassette player over and over with family encouraging me. In those moments, I didn't know what it was to be scared, intimidated, or have nervousness. I just knew I wanted to sing the song in the talent show. Whether or not I done good or bad, I don't recall, but I do remember people standing up clapping after I was done. I imagined being on that stage. Could it be that moment helped develop what I am doing now? I encourAGE (I capitalized age for a reason), no matter where you are in life or your age, you can dream. I encourage you to imagine, because you're still breathing, so that right belongs to you. Take some time before this year is over to spend at least 15 focused minutes using your imagination. I am imagining you living beyond your wildest imagination, meeting people you thought you would never meet. I imagine you're doing what others said couldn't be done. I am imagining you smiling with joy! You have the power within you to go and do whatever you imagine. As I wait to tape the show, I always wanted to be on TV. I have indulged in this endeavor before, but it didn't work out. I figured it was not the right time, but it didn't stop me from imagining myself. Nor did it stop me from acting like Oprah, so here I am doing what I imagined. Also, if you are offered something and you decline the offer, say "No, Thank You". We are living in a generation where there is a spirit of entitlement, where saying thank you is not required or expected. There are people who expect you to do things for them and give to them just because. Giving thanks is natural when you gain an understanding that what you have has been given to you. From the very air you breath down to blood and oxygen circulating to your brain to cause you to understand what you're reading. When I studied mortuary science, we had to know how to trace the flow of blood from a mother to the umbilical cord of a baby. I complained and hated having to learn it, but now I can understand its importance. If a mother is injured and the need comes to save the baby you have to know where to cut off or redirect the blood supply. This process may be something you never thought about, but I am sure if ever your life was save, thank you would be the proper response. There are so many simple things you can think of you can be grateful for. A heart of gratitude is what I have this Thanksgiving because of God continuous blessings. I have no health issues, family is well, heat works, water runs, gas in the car, clothes fit, etc. I could go on and on, bit you get the point. There are great people awaiting to meet you, but they will learn of you by your gift. IT'S TIME TO OPEN THE GIFT

Sonnie Daytag:www.sonnieday.org,2005:Post/20430042013-11-13T15:27:46-05:002017-01-15T16:18:01-05:00Welcome to my New BlogI want to introduce to you my NEW BLOG "#FaithUP w/Sonnie" !! With the new updates to my site provider, it allows me to do my own blog right on my page.
